If AT&T gave iPhone customers 3G service for the iPad, would you buy?

That would definitely influence my decision but I'm still waiting for OS 3.2 (video chat, SMS, file download) and the hardware to take advantage of it.
If the iPad can do file download, torrent.. it would be more marketable in my opinion.
Did they show usage of folders where you can organize schoolwork, business work ect?
Say you download Pages for $9.99, you should be able to save those files and store them somewhere.
Or AT&T's philosophy of squeezing its customers, too.
Good thing we've got great people capable of jail-breaking the iPhone. I could just tether the iPad to the iPhone. Of course if AT&T had lived up to their promise, I'd have tethering without jail-breaking.
So with this capability, if I were to buy an iPad (which I'm not unless Steve enables Flash - but that's not likely), it would be the WiFi only model. No sense in paying more for a 3G when I have an iPhone.
Have you ever been a customer of a cell phone company? When they get people hooked in a contract, they do not let that fish go. They're also not in the business of giving existing customers stuff for the heck of it.
I do think some sort of iPhone tethering deal would be a great customer service move from AT&T. The problem I see is with just free iPad service non-tethered, there would probably be a lot of iPad data customers lost to people who piggybacked with friends.
I think if AT&T would let me use iPad 3G for an extra $5 a month for the 250MB, that would be cool. They get more money -- $5 is more than nothing -- and it makes me more likely to re-up with AT&T whenever the iPhone breaks out to other carriers. If it's not some deal like that, I may get the 3G model, but I will rarely use it. I have some relatives who don't understand the concept of WiFi being a requirement in all American households. The nerve!

I suggest you watch the Keynote and also the see the recent news that has hit.
There is a shared directory on the iPad for storing files, this will be accessible to all iPad apps. This means when you make a file with these apps, you can save it to the device.
In addition, it has recently come out that you will be able to download files from the net (and probably from email) to the device as well. This means I can:
1. Download a torrent
2. Use the Transmission web interface to add that torrent to the queue on my server.
i doubt this tho im still thinking of buying cause of the question. maybe if they put on 5$ that would be great
As far as I am concerned the ability to get 250MB for $15 a month is a cheap option. I travel quite a bit and tend to spend someone where between $10-$15 for Wifi service at hotels. I do not think I would need to pay for the 3g very often, but it is a nice option to have.
This is exactly the point. This is an optional service. If you decide you can't afford it one month, you don't have to pay. There is no contract.
Chances are, I will only pay for the 3G when I am planning to go out of my immediate area. I pretty much always have access to Wi-Fi where I live. And when I do need it, 250MB will probably suffice.
I don't feel that the $30 charge for 3G service n the iPad is all that bad at all. Yes I will still get the iPad with the 3G even if AT&T does not bundle it with the iPhone service.
I already have the data plan on the iPhone plus I also have a laptop connect card. Ther service to me is valuable enough to pay for it. For me, the laptop connect card is the only way I access the internet with my computer so I don't mind the laptop connect charge.

They obviously thought of that since the iPad use a Micro Sim instead of a standard Sim...
