I mean, I just went to get Pixel 4A, after I got iPhone SE few months ago (I now have iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE x2, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 x2, so don't call me Android fanboy).

I mean, Apple went on say smaller packaging means lesser shipping volume means lesser carbon footprint as reason for not including charger. Yet Google managed to have smaller box than iPhone 11 and include fast charger and USB C cable.

So why not? I am not buying whole environmental arguments. Apple is still producing crap load of chargers regardless and these chargers will end up in the landfill anyway.

It is not like iPhone is any cheaper, it is still as expensive as before (I mean I can grab 2 Pixel 4A with iPhone 12's price).

Apple should have include charger.

This is probably why, Qualcomm. Good that they are back using Qualcomm, but we are paying the price for it. Deceptive $30 raised, imminent deals with AT&T/Verizon to market the phone at $699/799, cutting cost by removing charger, etc.

Gonna keep that profit margin and gonna cover that royalty fee paid to Qualcomm

"With the removal of select inbox accessories, we reduced the weight of the iPhone 12 packaging by 39 percent and we reduced the carbon footprint from shipping" Is just another corporate feel good marketing gimmick designed to dig more money out of us, & stupid imho. Because these accessories will be shipped from Apple or other vendors, ALL WITH THE EXTRA PACKAGING AND FUEL TO SHIP!!! STUUUUPID!!! = LARGER CARBON FOOTPRINT!! WHAT?? ...kaa

Those accessories would’ve been shipped anyway though. They’re not wrong. Reducing packaging by 39 percent when selling nearly 100 million iPhones is NOT trivial. We need to think on Apple’s scale here.

Not everyone who buys an iphone will buy these accessories. Science.

Apple is NOT reducing the overall carbon footprint, they're increasing it while they are reducing our money. Not to mention all millions upon million of cheap low quality products bought and replaced over and over, the problem can be solved by delivering high quality accessories with the phone. Simple economics. It's a feel good gimmick. Apples scale...kaa

Yep, that’s how Apple kept the price the same as last year. Actually the side benefit for the environment, is very good.

Apple still need to ship these 20W power bricks sold in the store.

Point is Apple can include accessories while reducing box size.

We all know why. I do wish they wouldn’t patronize us with all that garbage about the environment as if they’re doing us a favor. I have nothing against a company wanting to cut costs. Just don’t lie about it.
Or take on some of the burden for it rather than just passing it on while getting the benefits of not only cutting costs but also some additional profits.

Historical fact: Most do = increased carbon...&so down with this feel good gimmick, I can think out much further than what I'm told to believe. -kaa
“Most do?” Bull. Show me some actual evidence of how many iphone 12 purchasers are also buying separate chargers.

Your statement is garbage, and stating it with authority doesn’t make it any less so.

I can understand the environmental savings angle of it. Though, it goes out the window considering the iPhones aren't less expensive as a result. They lowered the cost of the wired lightning cable EarPods and the charging bricks, but not enough to even it out.

Honestly, given that, I think it's a front. Apple is worried that they're not making enough money per iPhone sale anymore and is looking for any excuse to charge more (given all of the $999+ iPhones and the increasing cost of the non-Pro 6.1" model this year). Yes, the phones are a bit more premium this year all across the line. But the actual materials cost does not justify such increases. The materials cost differential between a 64GB iPhone and a 256GB iPhone of the same model is way smaller than the $200 cost difference. Similarly, a 128GB Pro model and a 512GB Pro model's cost differential is basically free money to Apple.

So, yeah, it's BS masked behind the idea that Apple is doing good by the environment (which, they are not).

No their not. Apple would still produce and sell bricks and cables to sell by itself anyways which won’t change their output either way if they added it into the box or not. People need to think large scale. There’s a reason behind everything. If you like it not is a different subject.

They want to remove the charger and they do that, so the box becomes smaller.
It's not they want the box to be smaller so they remove the charger.
