If i bought an iphone from the apple store could i unlock it and use it for t mobile

If i were to go to the apple store and buy an iphone today, would i be able unlock it and use it with my t mobile sim card. My buddy works at the apple store and he says a guy who works there has t mobile and also has the iphone working on t mobile.
I am assume i would use ziphone. However does data services work on the iphone for t mobile.
When i unlock the iphone if i do, can i just plug it into my mac, or do i have to worry about it turning into a brick??

Absolutely. If you do a search for T-mobile in the forum, you'll see a lot of people use an Iphone w/ T-mo.

If I were you, I wouldn't use Ziphone to unlock it. It's easy but there are better options out there. Pwnage, ILiberty, IPlus. Do a search for those and you'll find a lot of info and step by step instructions on how to unlock it.

Yes thanks so much for the help everyone! I am really considering buying the iphone, and i would say i am a little tech savvy so i think i could handle the unlocking with help from all of you.
The link i was given was for T zones and i was wondering about the data service, anyways more importantly what is the best unlocking software then!

I just bought my phone 2 days ago and used Pwned tool. It works wonderfully and very easy with all the instruction from the above stickied post. If you are to use t-mobile and the edge network remember to go to your network settings then edge and set it up with wap.voicestream.com otherwise the internet wont work.

where can i download pwnage and get everything i need, something about not coming with a boot loader.

You can download from the iPhone DevTeam site but it does not have the bootloader files you need and so it is easier to download
a complete copy from torrents.
