You mean would that be covered under warranty? No it wouldn't, you would have to pay for it yourself.

Yeah. Sounds like you are asking if apple would take any responsibility for you dropping your iPad?

Quite simply, NO!

Would SAAB replace your car if you crashed it?

No.:)

Haha okay. I was just wondering, because I've read in other threads that people broke their iPad and got a new/refurbished one for free, and I've seen others that say they paid like $300

I've read a couple of these posts myself and I think the one or two people who broke their iPad and got Apple to replace it with a refurb for free were VERY LUCKY and this is not the norm. But as I aways say, it never hurts to ask.

iPad Wi-Fi Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
16GB $269
32GB $299
64GB $349
iPad Wi-Fi + 3G Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
16GB $319
32GB $369
64GB $419

Wow nice to know I can throw my 64gb 3G from the top of the stairs and only have to pay $419 to replace it! They have a flat $200 exchange fee for the iPhone ... Not sure why the sliding scale for the iPad. Most people will look into this for broken glass or screens and that should cost the same regardless of model.

Like the guy who sat on his iPad..

Who would seriously think that Apple should be responsible for them breaking their product? Is this something that just plagues Apple users?

Oh trust me, it's not. Browse around any automotive forum, and you'll eventually find someone bitching that GM/Ford/Audi/whoever wouldn't provide warranty service on a vehicle that has been crashed or modded out the wazoo. Seems to be predominant among domestic brand buyers, but is by no means isolated to Big 3 customers.

Might be interesting to ask such people if they use Apple products...
:rolleyes::p:D

Maybe the internet is helping to empower stupid people? Hence, you put enough stupid people together on a forum, and you have a no sense blackhole of stupidity.

Between "I broke my ipad/scratched my screen/dented the back/etc and why won't Apple give me a new one, to I heard iPhone 5 and iPad 2 should be out next month... I don't know what to think..

I remember 5 years ago someone told me that they are going to hold off on buying a PS3 because PS4 will be out in a couple of months.. poor guy is still waiting 5 years later...

Accidental Damage Insurance for iPad

Just like you, I'm always worried about breaking my iPad, or someone spilling liquids on it. Back in 2007 when I bought my MBP I found a company that would insure it against accidental damage, so I insured my MBP for 3 years.

Last week I realized I didn't do the same for my iPad, so I checked their website, and now they do have coverage for the iPad, but just for one year. It costed me $62.00 for the whole year (based on the cost of my iPad), so it seems reasonable.
Ad to extend the warranty of my iPad I used a VISA credit card that would double the manufacturer's warranty as part of its benefits. So I decided to wait on AppleCare for a while.

I do agree with this statement as it makes no sense to charge $269 for a screen repair on one and $419 for a screen repair on the other. I'm guessing the pricing is because they don't just repair your iPad...they give you a new or refurbished one and then they take the old iPad and do whatever needs to be done to it to refurbish it. Maybe it costs more to refurb a 64 gb 3g one? I really have no idea.
