I've bought 2 used 16s at great prices. some applecrazies are dumping them for the 3G. I even got the rare Apple case with one. all at big no-tax discounts.
I just won a 32g 3g on ebay for 2/3 cost, but still communicating with seller before I pay up.

Try this before syncing, you can transfer apps etc from an iPad, take a look:

Are you sure Apps? It says media...

Also regardless the App is tied to the iTunes account. You won't be able to update them etc, as you don't have the other account holders info.
