If I don’t have an Apple Watch and have Fitness Tracking under settings turned off, should Motion Calibration and Distance under Settings > Privacy and Security > Location Services > System Services be toggled off? Or does that setting also affect google maps and Waze?

I’m trying to conserve my battery life as much as possible and have turned off any unnecessary location based services but i do use google maps as well as Waze which is why I am asking this question. Thank you

Leave it on. In fact leave everything in Systems Services on, the battery savings are marginal.
Just my opinion.

Are you sure? Even “Wireless and Networking”? I watched this video:

And he said to turn these system services mentioned in the video off as they are only to apple’s benefit to track and drain the user’s battery.

By the way, does having Siri/Dictation enabled drain the battery any more than with dictation off?

I just believe what the setting is saying. When I need it I turn it on. I’ve seen the videos too. They are making too much drama.

What do you mean when you need it you turn it on? Motion calibration and distance is something that’s running at all times throughout the day.

As far as “Networking & Wireless” goes, do you have that toggled on as well? He says to turn it off in the video

Turn the screen down a tad and change push to fetch and you'll save a lot more battery.

Turn the screen down a tad and change push to fetch and you'll save a lot more battery. There are videos showing perpetual motion machines and free TV using a spark plug and they aren't true.
Does having Siri and dictation enabled have any effect on the battery? I do like to use dictation but turned it off as I’ve read it drains the battery. Is that incorrect as well?

I have everything turned on in my SE3 and I get through the day.
Big battery users are sending hours on social media. VPN os a big user too. Those nit picking measures might win you an extra 10 minutes of Instagram but lose you a lot of function. Makes a good video though.

Just for the record, you have “networking & wireless” enabled as well?

Leaving the settings on is pointless.

This is all you need if you use an Apple watch.

If you don’t use an AW turn off Motion Calibration and distance. Turn off significant locations if you don’t care about alerts while at certain locations.

A lot of people leave all these settings on without knowing why.

No one can provide a factual answer as to why turning them off beyond “It would be bad” because no one really knows.

But just turn them and “background apps” off and watch your battery life increase exponentially. I use a 15 Pro Max bought at release and still only have 17 battery cycles.

Motion calibration and distance is useful for navigation apps like Waze as well, No?
As far as “Networking & Wireless” goes, I see you have it toggled off. That’s the only one I’m uncertain about. What’s the reason you turned it off? Based on all the research I’ve done to this point turning that off completely disables the U1/U2 chip in the iPhone. I don’t use my iPhone to locate other apple products around me such as AirTags but I’m not certain whether I should disable Networking & Wireless so I’d like to hear your reasoning as to why keep it off.

By the way, do you have Bedtime(Sleep tracking enabled on your iPhone in the clock app?

Also, do have Siri and Dictation enabled?
