If I download an HD movie from iTunes...

...will it sync to my iPad? I'm flying from San Diego to Rhode Island tomorrow and wanted to load a few movies.

Yes.
You can test it by downloading one of the free HD TV shows they offer.

I wasn't sure if I should dl the standard version or HD.

Make sure you test it.
When I downloaded the HD test, iTunes downloaded both versions and I checked which file synched with the iPad and am almost positive it was the HD one.
