I get the memory from [best and safest place besides Apple]... since I thought Apple might cost more.. not sure if it is true. Newegg and if possible... what is the part number I need to get. DDR2 1333?

OWC or crucial.com are both safe choices. I go with whichever is least expensive at the time of purchase. With Newegg you take the chance of ordering the wrong ones.

Use Crucial and run the system scanner.

Even if you don't buy from there, it means you will get the correct RAM for your machine.

When I add 8GB memory in Apple store it shows as 2x4GB. Does that mean that it is 2GB into the 4 slots?? sorry for the newbie questions. Just want to be sure. I think I should just get the 2x2GB then,...... and get the 4gb x2 from Newegg or OWC... cheaper that way. I thought you had to get memory of all the same size and speed in order to achieve DDR rate [within Windows knowledge].... isn't it the same in Mac arena?

Nope it means its 2 (quantity) x 4GB (memory). The number with the GB next to it denotes the size of each stick.
