Right now I have a blackberry bold with unlimited text + data. Would my monthly bill go up at all?

I'm on plan with my family and my dad has an iphone, idk if that matters.

Right now all 4 of us have unlimited text, and me, my dad, and my sister all have unlimited data (mom doesn't).

I've looked through our account to try and figure out if my portion of the bill would increase if I got an iphone, but I cant figure it out.

Any ideas?? Thanks!!

Under features it says "Blackberry personal bundle (with messaging): $50"

So, if I switched to an iPhone with the $30/month data plan would I end up saving $20 per month?? I know it says messaging, but we have the unlimited family texting plan so I'm pretty sure all $50 of that is for the internet on my bold.

Sounds like. But find out what the "bundle" includes--maybe text messages?

Probably, but it depends on what you want. I assume the "bundle" contains messaging. So, if you added messaging to the iPhone plan, you wouldn't save much, if anything (I think it's $20/month, but I don't text, so I'm no source for exact prices).

I highly doubt your paying $50/month just for blackberry data. My guess is your reading it wrong and your paying 30/month for blackberry data, which is the same price of iphone data. I guess the only real way of finding out is by calling AT&T like Unspoken Demise suggested. That is the only real way of knowing for sure.

I copy/pasted exactly what it said...

"Blackberry personal bundle (includes messaging): $50"

But like I said we have the unlimited family text plan, so would I need to "add" messaging on the iphone or does the unlimited family plan cover that?

I plan on calling them later, but I'm still at work and just wanted to see what I should expect.

Yeah, you would save 20 bucks it looks like. Your paying for a bundle, which has text and web. Seeing as you are only using the data part, you would only need the $30/month iPhone plan. The family texting plan SHOULD work on the iPhone, seeing as iPhone texting plans are the same price

You screwed up on your blackberry plan. You only need the $30 a month one because the $50 a month one include text messages. Since you are under a unlimited family texting plan you do not need to pay $50. Some how either you or the rep who sold the phone screwed up and put it on there. My gut is telling me some how YOU added it by mistake because when I flipped my Blackberry from my own account to my parents it dropped it to a $30 a month data only plan since my parents family account is unlimited text.

It will not really save him any money since currently he is already over paying for his stuff. He can go online right now and cut 20 a month of the bill since he is double paying for unlimted text.

I have a blackberry with data on my parents plane. It is $30 for the data and I get the unlimited text message off my parents plan.

Just go fix it and drop to just the blackberry data. In the end it should be no cost. The OP account is messed up.

I dont see how that's MY fault...? When I got my bold I was upgrading from a Treo and already had the family plan + unlimited internet. In the store I didn't tell them to add anything to my plan or to change anything...so no, it's not MY fault.

I dont ever check the bill because my parents pay for it since our entire family is on the same plan. My Dad hadn't said anything to me about paying more, so of course I didn't have a reason to look into it and figure out what's going on.

I would also think that if I was paying $20/month for basically nothing that AT&T would either (a) Automatically take it away/change it so we weren't double paying (b) At LEAST let us know that it's happening.

Either way I'll call them and take care of it...thanks for the info.

You should be able to call them and get some sort of credit. If you get a CSR that says that they can't do anything about it..then hang up and try again.

And no...AT&T (nor any other major company) finds all the issues with peoples' accounts and fixes them. Being oblivious to one's own plan makes it that person's fault.....maybe partially as AT&T never caught it either.

The $50 bundle includes messaging and BB data.

So the bill should be the same for the iPhone.

Better yet

go to a AT&T store try the iphone compare them and ask them about the bill some are BB people some are Iphone people. personally I find AT&T wireless site pretty easy to understand but if you are confused talk to a rep in person before you agree to a contact that's my thought. nobody here is going to pay your bill!
