Yeah, so I know a lot of you here own multiple iPads and me myself I am a huge fan of them too. I have a 2021 12.9” iPad Pro, but I was considering an iPad Air 5. When I had the Air 4, I loved how easily I could hold it in my hands and get a true tablet experience. It was fun. But I don’t know if I should get one or not. Would it be redundant to have both? Does anyone else have both and find a use case for each? I’d like to hear your thoughts and comments on the subject please.

Thank you so much! :D

12.9”:
  • 3rd display at work desk for emails, messaging, reference, etc
  • PDF markup
  • American comics (not gonna lie, bought it mainly for this and the work stuff just came after)

10-11”:
  • everyday carry (purse)
  • bed/couch surfing
  • ebook reading (2-page landscape)
  • Japanese manga/Korean manhwa (the entire reason I bought my first iPad: iPad 2)
  • occasionally 4th display at the office

Note, I only use PCs once in a blue moon when I’m home. Otherwise, I’m mostly on the Air 4 or Pro 11. The Pro 12.9 mostly gets used in the office nowadays since I’ve just been reading manga and fanfics lately. I’m sure in a few months or so, I’ll be reading comics on the 12.9 again.

I Vote No on this one but I’m one of the lucky few who got a blue one that creaks and flexes….maybe consider looking for a deal on 4 or waiting a few weeks to see how the build quality issues pan out. Maybe it’s just me and the two people on Reddit that MacRumors posted about yesterday.

If you have to ask ...

I'd only consider owning multiple iPads if iPadOS was my main computing platform.

No use in having multiple companion devices.

But that's my two cents.

I own many iPads but the ones I use most are the 11 pro and the 12.9 pro (both 2018). They are definitely complementary. I have several minis but to be honest I don't use them much.... I used them more when I travelled regularly for work but this has changed with the pandemics.
I think it all depends on how much you use you iPads. If it's just a couch/bed device it's one thing, if it's a device you use all day long like me (although windows pcs are still my main devices), several sizes become important

If you have to ask it’s likely that there’s no apparent value for yourself in this purchase.

However life is short so get what you want- Apple offers two weeks return period.

In short - no.
If you can handle 12.9, then theres no reason to get another iPad.
If you cannot handle 12.9, then sell 12.9 and get yourself whichever size and performance combo suits your case best.

I think the Air kind of sucks, not performance wise, but UI wise. Having the touch button be the power button is not a stroke of genius, nor is switching the volume buttons like they did. Going to get a pro just for face id.

I'm coming from an 2nd generation pro so maybe the public already decided what was best, Apple certainly did.
