If I wanted to market computers, what kind of degree would I need?

Ok so heres the thing. I've decided that I basically want to sell computers. Not exactly make the computer, but sell it.

More specifically...apple computers/products. I don't wanna sound like the mega hipster who only likes apple, I don't JUST like apple. But honestly I think apple is the best at what they do.

Anyway, so I would really like to be working for apple some day, selling their products. I understand I shouldn't limit myself so I wanna be familiar with all products.

What sort of degree plan should I shoot for if I want to market computers? Major in Business or Major in Computers?

Why not just get a job at an Apple Store, impress them - and work your way up the management? I'd bet money that Apple has programs in place to train potential management. Take advantage of it....

Sales jobs don't really require a degree. Start out with a company that sells wine to stores or basic medical equipment (catheters, air lines, &c) to doctor offices then move up to pharmaceuticals.

That's how my friends in sales started out. Companies could care less about degrees for sales. What matters to them is if you can push products to customers. So you start in one of those areas and if you have good numbers you can move on to more elite sales jobs where you deal with larger corporate customers.

The only degrees that may be helpful is an in demand foreign language. That not many Americans speak. Then you make bookoo bucks and travel to a lot to those countries. For Apple I'd think Mandarin would be good. Though I suppose there are a lot of people in America that speak Mandarin.

In any corporate sales job you will be traveling a lot. So be prepared to only see your home on weekends.

Yeah thats what I've actually planned on. But I didn't want to limit myself so I was thinking a marketing degree or something. They told me about internships that they had and could even send me to cupertino and stuff.

A marketing degree is usually for those wanting to work in corporate analyzing sales trends and coming up with new ideas on ways to sell and promote their products (TV advertisements, public awareness campaigns, window and shelf displays) etc.

Why not work on a marketing degree while working at an Apple store making your way up the ranks.

Most retail sales positions don't require a college degree and most sales positions (retail at least) aren't all that well paying.

If you want to get into sales, not just retail, then a marketing degree is your best bet with maybe a minor in computers.

Double Degree, CS and Management would be the most qualified you could get at a Bachelors level.

Well if you're American you could always go to a University outside America and save yourself a pretty penny in fees.
