if iPhone can now detect car crash, why not also detect gunshot, carjacking or baby/pets locked in hot cars?
How? I believe the crash detection works by detecting an abrupt deceleration. What sensor would detect those other occurrences?

Just calibrated sound samples matching real ones through the mic?
Far too many variables acoustically. Crash detection works exclusively on built in sensors but once you start relying on software that’s where things can get messy. Imagine relying on car crash samples to determine if you’ve been in a crash.

No. Just no.. I shoot on the weekends, don’t need my phone alerting me every time I take a shot. There are tools to detect every other issue.. just buy them.

I talked about the other options. Some of them already built in your iphone so you know…

When I had my baby I went to a class, while still pregnant, to learn about momming. The person presenting the class said if you’re in any way rushed, absent minded or tired, etc - leave your right shoe with the baby in the car. That way when you get out of the car and notice you’re not wearing one shoe, you will go back to the car and realize you left your baby. I thought that was simple genius.

People should just stop leaving their babies in their cars. There was a story of an idiot woman that had to set a reminder on her phone to not forget her baby in the car. She’ll remember to bring her phone, but not her baby. As for the detection of these random things, they have literally nothing to do we with the sensors in the phone.
