If not connected to a network, how do I change files?

Hello..

I used ZiPhone to jailbreak my phone. All I would like to do is be able to change the background picture on my phones homepage. I am not connected to a wi-fi network so how do I go about doing this?

Installer does not require WiFi. Install SMBPrefs and use it to do that.
 
I was able to install and jailbreak. The issue I am having is transfering files over to the phone. Everything I have been reading requires a ip address. I am not on a wifi network so I can't get an ip address. Is there another way to get into my iPhone so that I can see the files in order to change them?

Yes that is correct. Just to make sure we are thinking/talking about of the same thing,, the home screen is the one with the icons correct?

That is all I will need? Do I transfer the file over normally and have the app search for the file and it will do put it as the home screen?

Does that sound about right??

Much simpler way. download customize and/or summerboard.

for customize: go into customize and tap the top option then look for a theme that you like. in the various tabs on the bottom of the screen. then after you found one click the tab on the bottom left corner and open what ever theme you want and click apply to all. then go back to the home screen of customize and click the second option from the top. then scroll down and click on wallpaper. choose which theme you want and voila. you can also change everything else about the phone. pretty cool. (sorry i can't be more specific i dont have it in front of me) :)


Summerboard is easier but you can't do as much.
just go into it choose theme and hit the home button voila. if you want more themes just go to installer and choose away. you can make your own too if you want.
 
Summerboard is super easy.

1. Put the wallpaper image on your phone normally.

2. Select your wallpaper with Settings like you would normally do

3. Launch SMBPrefs

4. Turn off "Appearance > Theme Wallpaper", but leave "Advanced > Wallpaper" on.

5. Hit the home buttons and you're good to go.

You two have just made my day. Going to try this first thing when I get home!! I was so freaking depressed after I jailbroke my phone and everything I was reading you had to ssh in to your phone....

it really does behoove you to pick up a refurbed airport basestation. You're going to want to do more than just this. It will make your life so much easier. Remember you don't have to have a net connection to access your phone over wifi. I seem to remember that ifuntastic, or one of the other programs doesn't require wifi to access the phone.

Thanks again for the suggestion re: wireless network. Picked one up last night, just happen to be at the apple store, easy to setup and I was off and running.
