Best? Probably the Pro XDR display they're bringing out with it or the Dell 32" 8k display.
I've just ordered an LG 34" 5k2k because I don't fancy waiting to spend 4x as much for the little extra it would give me. I don't edit feature films.

Because, especially with the ultimate Mac, I'd want to be viewing macOS the way it is designed for (~220 PPI).

I guess I don’t understand why asking for monitor recommendations has anything to do with the new Mac Pro?

I'd go with an ultrawide curved display. Try them once and you don't want to go with multi monitor setups anymore. All it needs is good colors and of course a matte display. Perhaps also a Wacom Cintiq 24 or 27 inch (?) instead of a tablet, depends. And I'm a 3D guy.

I see what you mean. However, the last external monitor I bought was an Apple Thunderbolt 27" monitor when it was first released. I have not looked at a single monitor since then, or the technology on them. SO my thought process here is that - more than likely someone who would buy the new MP would be pairing it with a monitor that's pretty good as far as current specs etc.
This is more for me to get some ideas of what's out there - whether you do photo, movie or audio production etc - just curious....
Oh, and of course looks are important - but my monitor usually sits right in front of a wall so you see nothing except the bezel... thanks.

Ahhhh thanks. I was using 2 x 27" Apple Thunderbolt monitors for ages. Then one crapped out - so now I'm looking at either 2 decent 'newer' monitors - but - I was also looking at some of those curved monitors in the 34" range etc... and that could totally work for my setup...
I use massive amounts of virtual desktops in OSX so I can get away with just one monitor if it's large enough now...
I've only briefly used dual screens on a Mac and perhaps missed some configuration switch but at least by default isn't there this weird window popping where if you move a window across the screen border just a bit too far it vanishes from screen 1 entirely and pops up on screen 2? That drove me mad.
But I wasn't referring to that just meant in general that once you try an ultrawide and suddenly are free of the bezels and the gaps between them, no issues with monitor stand placement and potentially of different color rendering or image resolution and it's all just a big unified wraparound screen that even takes up less total space on the desk, that feels like a proper upgrade.

It's going to entirely depend on your purpose for the computer, surely.
I'd love a new Mac Pro (its not practical until we move realistically. The current Mini + MBP pair I can practically take with me as carry-on luggage when we go, a Mac Pro not so much) but have literally zero use for the crazy high end display.
If one of those 5K ones that @frou linked to were available at the time for a reasonable price, a couple of those might be interesting, but e.g. the 5K 27" Dell on Amazon is around 3x the price of the 4K 24" (which I have two of already, and am quite happy with), and yes I know it's 70% more pixels, but for what I do (reading and writing code, mostly) I just need it to scale to a usable size and render text/etc smoothly. If the built-in window management (i.e. window snapping, more than two full-screen apps at once or something) improves in Catalina, then a single big (i.e. the 5K 27") might be a good option. I like that with 2 smaller screens each one can have it's own Spaces and swap between them independently, so I'd probably end up with similar to what I have (if not the exact same setup).
