iPhone If the calendar icon bug is never getting fixed, any alternatives?

So I'm getting sick of seeing the bug where the calendar icon's date isn't the real date.... it was an annoyance before and now it's just plain unacceptable. It seems like the devs aren't interested in fixing it?

So are there any alternatives to that icon or ways to correct the issue by using a different icon or tweak that alters it?

My calendar icon is working perfectly. Did it work before the jailbreak?

For many, the icon doesn't update to the current date when the day rolls over to the next. Ie today it says April 3, but when I respring, it updates to the 4th. This has been noted by many users. I'm on 6.1 on the iPhone 5. Yes of course it worked fine before the JB. Many have noted it's a bug in the JB.

You're probably not experiencing it because you're likely not on 6.1, or have a different model, or used a different jailbreak.

Factory unlocked iPhone 5 on 6.1.2. There is only one jailbreak, no?

That's GREAT for you. Unfortunately that doesn't say anything because there have been about 5 updates to evasion and the issue only began a couple revisions ago.

I have had all revisions of evasi0n through cydia. Try the manual setting time zone method and see if that helps fix the problem

Edit: also turn it off under privacy -> location services -> system services

Wow, you're like that lady on SNL... "You have been to Paris? I have been there too, and the Moon. You can balance on one foot and recite a poem? I can balance on no feet and recite the Gettysburg address" ... lol.

Not sure how you are on 6.1.2 and yet have been on all of the latest revisions since you've been on 6.1.2 which came out in late feb and there have been many evasion updates since... but whateve. :)

Uhm...there's an evasi0n package you can update through cydia...

I first jailbroke on 6.1, when evasi0n originally came out

No, you don't say! LOL. The I constantly update the evasion package in Cydia, obviously. The issue only became an issue in the last couple updates of evasion, hence why I said you were never on the problem versions on 6.1

Okay, that makes more sense. 6.1 and 6.1.2 are fundamentally the same. The only difference in the iOS is the fix to the exchange battery draining bug

Yeah but u know how these little updates go... one bug fixed is another created, which is why I tend to only do the upgrades if the issues being stated as corrected are issues that affect me... or if the new features appeal to me, neither of which were the case with 6.1.1, 6.1.2 or 6.1.3 (especially .3 for obvious reasons haha)

Oh, haha. Well, I do hope manually setting the time zone fixes the problem. It would be lovely to have such a simple solution :D
 
Curiosity question--are you running any SB themes? I used to see a similar bug on occasion clear back on 4.3.3 with my iPad; took me a while to track it down to some weird SB widget that didn't play well with the calendar for reasons I never precisely figured out. It drove me nuts for quite a while. IIRC, the widget had a non standard way of calculating the date; ended up having to redo it to the more common HTML coding and the problem disappeared after that.

Unfortunately, I've not seen this happen even though I'm on a 5 with 6.1 and all current evasi0n updates as well, so I can't help with troubleshooting this one. (I'm with you on not bothering to update iOS for the small stuff, so I didn't bother with 6.1.2.) Hopefully someone who had your actual problem recently has found a solution! But, assuming there's no actual fix to be found and you want to use the stock app, about the only alternative I can think of would be to use a plist in Winterboard to "hide" the date that appears on the icon--changing the icon itself will have no effect on the date. A plist will able to change the numerical text to white to hide on the stock icon background. Or you can also use one to make the text fully transparent, so you wouldn't have to change it every time you changed icon themes. If you're not sure what I'm saying, LMK and I'll see if I can post an exact one for you to use.

Obviously, it's a less than ideal solution, because it just hides the problem. But if you're the type who runs a date widget on your phone anyway, it might be an OK thing, at least while you continue to hunt for a better alternative.

(Note--if you go the plist route for transparency , do NOT use "display:none;" but rather "opacity:0.0;" The former will throw you into Safe Mode & keep you there until you delete that from your plist. The latter produces a blank field where the number used to show, as pictured.)

4S 6.1 with no issue here. I am pretty sure we all used the same JB because we all used evasi0n to jailbreak and evasi0n updates in cydia. My guess would be some tweak that you downloaded.

Mind sharing where you see users reporting this issue? Cause I've never seen one myself.
 
Yea this has been an issue for years now. Usually it is caused by a Cydia package that effects icons. The fixes in aware of are to toggle the automatic time zone setting off and on a couple times but leaving it off and just manually selecting the time zone. Or you can try removing any tweaks which effect the springboard and/or icons. Another fix was to use any of the following tweaks: fsWipeCache, iWipe Cache, iCleaner, iRetiner GUI (specifically using the white icon feature), or sbSettings (fix dir permissions).

I had this problem very briefly on iOS4.3.3. I haven't experienced this in a couple years thankfully. Either way, I have read or heard that the above mentioned "fixes" have all worked for someone at some time.
