Of the stupid staff! I scheduled a "personal shopping" appt today to buy a iPhone 3Gs and a MBA (2.13 GHz). Are you ready for this? The salesman pulled me aside and whispered in my ear, like he didn't want anybody to hear OR allow me to buy the Air, "truth be told, we don't sell too many of these", then he walked me over to compare the specs and price of 13" MBP and proceeded to look at me like I couldn't add 2 + 2!

As I have stated here numerous times, every screen at this store has been line free and beautiful, and I know my needs are (in order) Pages, Keynote, web, email, FB, and music. I mean, am I off my meds or is this the bizarro world? His final words were, "well, it's your money, mate". THEN he blitzkreiged away to help someone else when I all of a sudden didn't know what to do next, pretty much out of shock. I mean, I felt like a deer caught in the headlights; I was transfixed.

To make matters worse, he couldn't transfer my contacts from my BB to iPhone after trying for, like, 1/2 a second.

I drove to AT & T store, and despite not buying the phone there, they transferred my contacts from phone to phone in 2 shakes of a lambs tale and gave me the run down on the iPhone so I could work it till I got home and really play with it.

I have been a big proponent of my Apple Store and the MBA (I test the things and their screeens twice a week for the past 30 dasy or so) and I am just flabbergasted.

Who do I write? What should I do......this is wrong on about 6 levels, no?

well, if hes trying to get more money out of you id say its wrong. But i personally will tell people if a product they want to buy is inferior. I dont like to sell junk, was he just trying to say that its not really a good choice? And if your mind is made up, then why are you at the store for something like that?

Dude, he was literally one step away from barring me from buying the thing. Oh, I also forgot one thing. I asked about the lines issue and if I could open the box and make sure the screen was cool before leaving and he gave me the "sure, but there will be a re-stocking fee". I just bought an iPhone (I was spending money) and was patient and couldn't have been easier to wait on. I mean, was there something in the water, or what? (not mine, his)

Not to hijack my own thread BUT, do the new 13" MBP screens still look muted or washed out compared to MBAs? I messed with brightness and angles and it just didn't look good.

Maybe it's conspiracy, but perhaps he pegged you for somebody who would be trouble and steered you away from buying the product with a high return rate. Dunno, makes sense in a risk management way of looking at it.

While he may not have served you in the manner in which you wanted, I do believe from his statement he was trying to do the right thing from his perspective.

Perhaps the guy just sucked at his job and it had nothing to do with the product(s) he was selling. If that guy worked at McDonald's, he might've pulled you aside and let you know that a Big Mac and a McShake really wasn't that good of a deal when you considered the fact that you could buy a Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese and a McFlurry for nearly the same amount.

Half these sales people are completely ignorant. He should set his personal feelings aside, unless you specifically ask him. In that scenario, he should still respect your decision. The MBA is a wonderful Mac. I absolutely love it even though we do have some issues with it and how Apple treats us as buyers.

I don't like the 13" MBP. It's very nice, but it feels like carrying a brick in a bag, while the MBA feels like a notepad! That along with the SSD, and beautiful display, makes the MBA a wonderful choice for those who don't need a lot of power and love the Mac on the go!

How is your new 3GS? I want one pretty bad, but I just bought a bunch of Apple stuff, and it's down the list a bit... all this Apple stuff is amazing to me.

Nirvana is the word that comes to mind. Actually it is the smallest, most user-friendly and intuitive computer I have ever used.....oh, and it's a phone, too! I love it.
