Rumor has it that the 14 lineup will drop the Mini line (it seems almost certain at this point). What are the odds that Apple drops back to smaller sizing for at least the standard model? (14 & 14 Pro). It seems that the standard size and max models gained that extra screen real estate when the Mini lineup was introduced. (I would imagine to create a more drastic difference between the sizes).

I went from an iPhone X to a 12 pro, where the screen went from being 5.8" to 6.1", and as much as I enjoy the upgraded camera etc, 6.1" is just a LITTLE too large for me. The size of the X and 11 Pro seemed to be the sweet spot. I recently picked up a 13 mini to try and get something that was a little more manageable and I actually LOVE the size way more than the 6.1" screens. BUT - the cameras being better on the pro models and having that telephoto lens is a must. I never realized how much I used it.

I've seen a lot of threads about the 14 rumors and the Mini being dropped, but haven't read much about if they intend on keeping the current sizing for the "standard" sized iPhones.

Anyone have any thoughts / insight?

The rumours are very strong, to the point of accepted reality that there will be no 14 Mini variant. There have been some developments though (rumour from Ming Kuo), in that the regular iphone 14 and 14 Max will retain the same A15 bionic chip as the 13 series. This then makes sense that there is no 14 Mini, as the 13 Mini can carry on its role alongside the 14 and 14 Max.

I highly doubt Apple will drop the 6.1" size down to the 5.8" screen size of the X, XS and 11 Pro though as the trend right now is for larger screened phones, however there are rumours that the next SE iphone will be 5.7".
