I've been using the iPhone 4/4S for the past 2 years I am bored. I'm currently out of contract with AT&T. So I have the option of getting the new iPhone when it's released.

If you had the option today to trade an 16GB AT&T iPhone, which would appeal to you most.

1. Do a straight trade for an AT&T HTC One X.

2. Trade for an AT&T GS3 with $100 on my end.

3. Wait for upcoming phones (iPhone any other flagship Androids) coming out soon.

Keep it in mind, when the next iPhone is announced I could be particularly bored with that as well.

4. None of the above.

I'm absolutely thrilled with my Galaxy S III.

Therefore it's going to be very easy to wait until next year to see if Apple can make up for lost time and release a truly exciting modern iPhone.

And what that that phone look like?

So an iPhone + $100 isn't something you would consider. No one is willing to do a straight trade since the presumed announcement next week.

Wait for the new iPhone, HTC's WP8 event at the end of the month and any news on the next generation Nexus from Google IMO.

That's what we have J. Ive for.

I happen to think he did an absolutely stellar job designing the current MBA's as just one current example.

Yes....love my MBA.

I'd like to see

4.5" iPhone - bit wider and longer
Display technology that has the blackest of blacks
Quad Core
World LTE
Stereo Speakers
2 day battery life with avg use
Dual Adaptive mics like the rMBP

Keep the iPhone 5 slim design around for people that prefer it. I think we're moving into an era where more and more work is going to be done on smartphones and we've a need for longer battery and powerful processing and that can only come in a larger form factor.

Always wait. Only a complete fool would buy now. It's September FFS.

I plan on getting rid of my 4S either way. If I choose to do one of the mentioned trades today, I would still be able to get a fully subsidized iPhone when it's released.

I know it's always better to wait, but that's how technology is, always something new and better around the corner.

If you're gonna get rid of it either way then get rid of it now. I just got an S3 about a week ago and I love it. I also moved from a 4S and previously an iPhone 4. Can't really say much about the One X other than that I love it's design. I've only used my friends HTC Desire a couple times but I hated Sense but you could always root and run a custom ROM or you might even like Sense.

I've read things about the bootloader being locked for the AT&T HOX. I'm not sure if you will be to run custom roms. But my android knowledge is very elementary, so I'm sure there's a workaround.

What made you switch? Was it boredom as well?

I have no idea about the bootloader sorry.

Yeah it was boredom. My 4S was jailbroken and I tweaked it a lot and was comfortable with it that way for a while but it still wasn't enough. After seeing what iOS 6 has to offer and the part leaks for the next iPhone, I just knew I wasn't getting it for sure. Even if the part leaks are fake and there is a redesign I still don't think I wanna go back to iOS so soon.

If you're bored, why not see if you can get a Galaxy Nexus? I picked one up in July just to give Jelly Bean a thorough test drive and to have a backup phone. It's worked out great as I was just able to sell my 4s and have something to use until I decide if I'm getting the next iPhone (alright, something to use until I get the next iPhone).

The hardware doesn't quite match up to the GSIII or One X but it's not far behind and you get straight vanilla Android to mess around with (and updates before anyone else).

I'd been playing around casually with the GNex but alway fell back to my 4s for daily use. This forced me to really put Android through it's paces for a while and while I still prefer iOS, it hasn't been an altogether unpleasant experience.

I'm actually genuinely intrigued by the Lumia 920, having used WP 7.5 previously and actually liking it, more so even than Android.

There's a workaround for it so that you can use htcdev to unlock the bootloader. I would get the S3. My One X has been collecting dust since I got my S3.

In my case I'm not bored with my iPhone 4S. It does all I want, the only serious drawback is the tiny screen. I'd buy a new iPhone upon release if it had a larger display in both width & height.

But since it's looking highly unlikely, there's no reason to stop using my 4S as a secondary phone to my ever so excellent SGS III.

I would do 2. There will always be something new around the corner but the S3 is going to be king until the S4 comes out. Only phone I can really see challenging it is the Razr Maxx HD because its built like a tank and has incredible battery life. Perhaps the Note 2 if you are into its larger size and S pen.

I would also stick with my GS3. Apple would really have to surprise the hell out of me to switch back.

The other dude in here who suggested a Nexus phone as an interim until you decide had a good idea IMO.
