Ok so lets pretend all apple products new and old, up an vanished and you were forced to choose among the PC world.

Which would you choose and why? Laptop? Desktop? Sony? Dell? ThinkPad?

Please dont say you would revert back to pen and paper, or just wouldnt buy one period! I know its hard but try to think. haha

I would buy that netbook Gizmodo did, and install OSX on that bitch, like Gizmodo did. looks like it kicks ass!

Why? I'm not trying to be brash, but maybe if you explained the situation a little better we might be able to make better recommendations.

i dont think you understand. I am just curious as to what people would buy if they were no apple products or software. I am not looking to buy a PC, im just curious.

this is just for fun.

I would built my own desktop much like I do now. I have said ti before I will NEVER buy an apple desktop in the current set up.

Laptop I think I would look at Dell or HP.

I would say netbook PC for simplest tasks. I don't think a full size PC desktop or laptop are bad, but I just think any Mac is a better machine for all my needs of light graphics/gaming, word processing, and internet/email.

If I had to spend $600 on a PC desktop, I can't think of a deal that is as useful as the Mac mini, especially since rumors put the new Mac mini at that price with DVD burner.

For laptops other than the netbook market which Apple has not entered, Macs are better than the PC in every way.

There are a lot of good PC laptop options out there.

I'd definitely go for either a Sony Z-series, or a Lenovo.

I'd also seriously consider getting a Dell Alamo, which is what the MacBook Air should be, but isn't.

I would build my own desktop with an old hacked version of XP and pray that the new Windows was good.

Don't know about laptop, maybe a thinkpad or a laptop with a nipple on the keyboard

I would also build my own and then buy a 24inch Dell to go with it. Bluetooth KB and mouse to go with it and it's a perfectly capable machine. For a small amount of money you can get quite a well performing PC.

I'm using Vista x64 on my homebuild (using it until the new Mac Pro is released) and it's fairly nice. I've had no problems and it's fairly hassle free.

With that said... I can't wait to get back to Mac.

Desktop:
Self-built.

Laptop:
No way would I buy anything from Sony - they're far too unreliable (I've had endless problems supporting Sony laptops - they've had more faults than everything else we use put together). It'd be either a Thinkpad or possibly HP.

OS:
Linux - or possibly Solaris
