Hi there,

I thought I remembered that back in the day, with AT&T's $29.99 iPad unlimited data plan, that there was a trick via changing the APN settings on your iPhone so that you could use the SIM card in either device. Does this trick still work?

I'd like to use the cellular iPad Mini 5 for the days I'm at work, and still be able to pop the SIM card into my iPhone SE when I go out on the weekends and need something that can fit in my pocket.

I don't care about having voice minutes or text messages, I only need data on either device since iMessage / FaceTime / Google Voice will take care of the rest.

Thanks for any help you can give :)

It should work, I can put any sim in my iPad or iPhone SE and LTE works.. I was recently swapping nano sims back and forward from my iPhone SE to my iPad Pro 1TB constantly. Although, now I’ve recently setup the prepaid AT&T $29.99 plan on the built in internal ESIM in my iPad for convenience, even though the esim is unlocked for any carrier, AT&T is clearly the best choice, so I don’t have to keep moving my SIM card back and forward now.

AT&T pre paid $29.99 plan is awesome too BTW! This is pre-paid service, and I get these speeds! With all the data I want!

What an amazing deal.

I tried swapping my iPad sim into my iPhone and it didn’t work. It used to. But it seems that now it recognizes that you put it into an iPhone and they won’t allow data.
