...as opposed to how every other music streaming service works.
And Apple doesn't care.
What do you think?

I doubt that they see this as a "problem" that needs a "solution". The decision could be based on their opinion of what the laws state.

I wonder what happens if you export a Library.xml file and then try to import it after moving.

Law has nothing to do with it. Every single other music streaming service handles this situation with literally only one click which changes the country.
If content is not licensed for the new region, then it shows it as unavailable but a no point data is lost.

It does nothing. Apple Music songs are ignored.

I didn't say that it did but I'm not sure that argument is conclusive. We have no idea how Apple's or any of the other streaming service's music licensing is set up, do we? It doesn't interest me much but it can't be dismissed as a possibility.

At least they're not taking your children away when you cross the border!

Maybe a dumb question, but why do you need to change the country? I lived abroad for nearly two years and still kept my account on US. I never had a reason to change it. The only thing that comes to mind would be maybe some apps that aren't available...? But you can even get the TfL app from the US store even though you need to have a UK address on your account.

I have to agree with this, it is your sole discretion if you want to switch your Country on your profile.

Absolutely, it's 17 years since I created my .mac account and still do not need (nor want) to switch countries despite not living in the US.

Also: writing "hundred thousands of dollars"? Really? That's just lame.

The same for me, I moved form Italy to Hungary and never needed to switch country. The problem could appear only if you want to change payment method.
About Netflix, they changed my account location automatically and some movies and tv series disappeared. Downloaded movies couldn't be played abroad.
I am not sure about, but also for Apple Music i think they need to follow the rules for every country.
