Just wanted to make everyone aware that changing your mind has its price. I originally ordered 2 wifi iPad's on 3/12 but then cancelled the order shortly after to hold out for the 3G.

On 4/14 I placed an order for a single 64GB 3G iPad, all was fine for a couple of days, the shipping status even changed to priority a day later. I thought all was fine.

I get this email. "To ensure that all customers are given equal opportunity to acquire this product we have limited the amount available per customer. Therefore, this order has been cancelled."

I called the Apple Store today and the rep said this happened to her last week and she tried to override by sending the order to the "order maintenance" department which handles these types of things. She then said the order still did not go though and theirs was cancelled as well. This is an ongoing problem without a solution. She was going to try to send the order to a supervisor but expected the order could still be cancelled anyway. I live over 50 miles from an Apple Store and have no Best Buy near that sells Apple Products.

My solution, give a family member money and have it sent to them. Not ideal but I did not have any other option. Just wanted to make others aware of this issue.

ship it to yourself at work. call yourself 'james bond' and let the mail guys know.

use a different email and payment method as well :D

I asked the rep if I could still have it shipped to me and she thought it would still get flagged and cancelled just from matching up the shipping address from the previous order.

I work from home so sending to work would not work either.

Oh well, I was just surprised to see something like this as an outstanding issue. Pre-orders have been around for over a month now. It was rather entertaining to try and convince the slightly older rep that not all Best Buy's sell Apple products. Despite the frustration with this ordeal I maintained being calm and polite to her.

2 cancellations in a row

I also changed my mind while waiting, went from a 64 to a 16, then back to a 64. Apple cancelled my order  (I received the same email). Then placed an order on the phone, with a really nice sounding guy saying he'd flag my order so it wouldn't be cancelled again. Well, next day -- cancelled. Placed another order on the phone last night with a less-competent-sounding guy. I have a feeling I'm going to be waiting past launch day for mine... We'll see.

Just create a second Apple Store account with a different credit card. Pretty likely to work.

You can also walk into a store and buy one too!

What does stating the obvious in multiple threads accomplish? I have found my own solution, I just wanted to warn others. You also may not have read I live over 50miles from an Apple Store and do not have a Best Buy that carries Apple products.
