Trying to compare doesn't really work too well. A lot of it depends on your audience, topic, frequency of posts, quality of posts, etc.
On the whole, I agree but it's more out of curiousity and so I have a rough benchmark to go for when comparing. I realise it's futile to compare like for like.
The stats you (Renderz) show, is that for your entire site, or just a blog directory?
The stats are just for my blog, I update and write about once a day. When I write reviews or articles then I post them to forums. I've just written one about Heath Ledger which I'll be posting on forums.
For instance, if you have 200 unique visitors, and 400 pageviews, then on average it is 2 pageviews per visitor.
If you are a new site, then you are doing very good. Mind telling me how you've done it?
Yeah, I want to attract and maintain better loyalty. Overall my website is averaging 2.65 pages per session (according to Analytics which has been going for a few months).
My blog is fairly new, it's existed for months (after discovering the wonders of Wordpress) but I've really upped my activity on the blog pages as an online experiment to see what kind of reach I can get, and what who my potential audience/customers are. How I do it is simple, I post something new every day and if I feel it's something a community would find interesting then I post the link on forums.
By doing that though you open yourself up for critism; there are always people who will disagree and some even hostile. Just ignore them, don't reply, don't take the bait. Nobody is forcing them to click the links.
These are my popular pages:
