Would they require that they know your password?
If they do what must I do to protect my information?

I would think that Apple Repair could just boot up your iMac as a guest to replace the display.

Isn't there a way for them to access your files saved in the internal drive without logging in?

All files on your drive are encrypted by default (unless you turned off FileVault). Nobody can read them without your password or fingerprint.

I am curious, why are you asking such questions in here? when it is oh so easy to do it by phone:

You: Rings Apple support 'hello I have an imac that needs a screen replacement, it is protected by a password, do
i need to remove it before I send it in?'
Apple: <what ever there response is>

If you’re concerned about the data, simply erase the Mac before brining it in (if the display isn’t working at all, connect an external to do that). Then restore from backup* when you get it back.

*Obv, update yer backup before erasing
