Next year, the 13" MacBook Pro will be the 13" MacBook and we will get a 14" Mini-LED MacBook Pro.

The new Air is miles better than the Pro was 10 days ago. Hence, it’s the new Pro.

This is... No.

The MacBook Pro is the Apple laptop that is called the MacBook Pro. The MacBook Air is the Apple laptop that is sold under the name “MacBook Air.”

Hope this is clear.

Great point OP. Yes, that’s the thing that many aren’t getting - the MBA is now capable of doing lightweight pro tasks and is pretty much the same as the last gen intel MBP 13 inch w/ x2 TB.

I suspect too that when redesigns come along along with the M2 that the low end MBP may just disappear.

The MBA will be scooping up a lot of the use cases (ie creating 4K 10m video clips for YT, creating audio tracks with 20-30 tracks etc).

It’s insane too that the low power cores in the M1 MBA alone are equivalent in performance to the early 2020 MBA.

Of course it’s not the Pro. It’s not called that.

It wasn’t meant so literally. The performance far surpasses what was available up by to now. People who bought that machine can now buy this machine and get better performance.l for less cost. It was intended as a compliment to Apple.

I thought about it, and concluded you're wrong. They have the same CPU, but the Air throttles under extended loads. The Pro has a better and brighter display, better speakers, better battery life. So they're not the same.
