Just wanted to let you know that I made a service similar to Evernote last year, except with the focus on being fast and simple. I tried Evernote's bookmarklet on mobile Safari and found it... highly lacking. It was really slow to load and didn't seem to recognize that I had selected text (to be inserted into the note).
So, I went ahead and set up an iPad compatible bookmarklet for my site, www.renotecontrol.com, this evening. Go to the site (www.renotecontrol.com), make an account - takes about 10 seconds, we ask for you email so we can contact you about the site, maintenance and stuff, no spam I promise - and then you can use the site on your desktop browser, or click on the little "iPhone/iPad user?" link on the upper right corner by the "NOTE IT" button for instructions.
Let me know if you like, or have any suggestions. I am considering making an iPad app that integrates the service plus a bunch of things I think Safari is lacking on the iPad for doing research online. It's free, BTW.
