Kind of a bit of a difference IMO. A good song to test this out on is Get Lucky by Daft Punk/ Lover by Taylor Swift. Start the song out each time you switch modes. This goes with Windows/Mac.. or iPhone. That extra oomph makes a really big difference and makes the lower ends BOOM.

Wish Apple would release an EQ for these things, or just allow us to adjust the frequencies manually like Spotify. Would make a massive difference and make the lower ends sound from "good", to REALLY good.

There should not be a difference between the modes as that's one of the features of APP: Adaptive EQ. It makes adjustments so that it sounds the same no matter which mode you're using.

There isn’t that much of a difference.....
There's a pretty big difference in lower end bass in these two songs that I've mentioned. Only works with organic instruments, you won't notice it in electronic bass all that much.

There is to me. Not sure why others can’t hear it, but it’s a big enough difference to hear in certain songs. It’s like turning the bass up from 0 to 2 on an EQ. Guess not big enough from the untrained ear to hear, or maybe mine are faulty?

I’ve asked multiple people here at home and they've all heard the difference. Friend also noticed it on his. Just a personal observation that I’m sure people won’t notice often that a person with OCD will.

I went back to listen to the off vs ANC at a quiet place and you’re correct. The off mode has slightly louder low end response. Probably because the Adaptive EQ gets turned off as well in the off mode. That would make the off mode bass less accurate.

Nope, I argue that there is more bass under ANC mode.
Interesting feedback from everyone! I definitely believe you. Just not sure why I hear more when it’s off completely. Maybe I’m not giving the anc time to adjust to compare, just sorta going back and forth and restarting songs with a lot of organic bass. I’ll try it in a bit.

My Genre is Progressive House Music and I am solely thinking about buying the APP for the Ease of Use and the Make My Life Easy thing that Apple Provides. But I am put off with the BASS in Airpods atleast on the earlier versions. Do you guys think to listen to some Progressive House BASS Hitting Stuff the APP would still make BASS sound Good ?

Can you send a track name from Progressive House genre? I can check it out and share my experience. But it will be based on a assumption that your ears are in similar condition as mine, and I also assume deep bass is the top prio for you as i came across in the other thread.

My genre is metal and time to time i will listen to some house music mostly Ibiza compilations and a few house tracks from metal people!

It definitely depends on the track as some have deep bass whereas others are a bit lacking.
One of the good things about the APP is at lower level the bass sound good too.

I dont even need to listen on the 65ts for comparisons as these tracks sound stupendous on the APPs.
(Jabras will also be good I know but theres no need to compare)

My settings: Apple Music EQ -->BASS booster;Vol - 70%

The bass is clean and deep and loud.

These tracks are nice I added them to my library. Cheers

edit: ANC was ON and I use largest size tips

Thanks for the feedback. Though I wouktd have liked to be tested the tracks on Flat EQ settings as I also intend to use the Airpods Pro for watching Netflix and YouTube where the BASS booster setting will not help. But nevertheless Thanks again.

With EQ OFF they are pretty good too. The bass is slightly metallic in this case but still plenty loud. With BASS booster EQ obviously the bass has more low end grunt/thump (running out of words to describe it)

For the OP, I turned everything off and i will say the bass gets a bit muffled and sounds dark so there might be something here. With ANC ON the bass gets louder and cleaner.

The best track to test with is what the OP stated in his first post. The Daft Punk albu has some serious low end bass. In the off mode with the Adaptive EQ off, the bass is almost too pronounced.

The “Adaptive EQ” is just a marketing gimmick... they don’t sound that much better with the ANC off. TBH they just sound OK. The Powerbeats pro sound better and they are the same price MSRP. Like I like them but I didn’t buy them for the SQ.

I’ve listened with them enough with ANC on and off to notice there isn’t “booming “ bass period. These are mid centric earbuds with more bass then the OG AirPods.
