I have about 8 movies all converted with handbrake that worked with 2.0 and 2.1. After updating to 2.2 now the movies just say "The movie could not be played." Actually one of the 8 movies works which makes no sense. It is on 3 different iPhones. Anyone know a solution?

Great update Apple.

Yes it was I'm glad you like it too,

I did a full restore to 2.2 and now I cannot sync videos to the phone unless they are tv shows or rented videos. It wont even let me send over my Legally obtained copies of Wall-E and The Incredible Hulk which came with the Blu-Rays of the movies as digital copies. I love Apple But Man I hate some the decisions they make.

Edit: I am an idiot I did not scroll down on the video tab to see all my videos for copying them over.

Movies not working after 2.2

I also have a couple of movies in itunes that no longer show up as downloadable to the iphone. They worked before I upgraded? Is there a way to revert back to the old operating system? or am I missing something?

Help needed

Well I downgraded and iPhone 2G to 2.1 and movies now work, but I have no idea how to downgrade a 3G to 2.1. Everything i see on the web is for jailbreaking which I don't want to do. I keep getting a 1013 error after trying to downgrade. I will go to Apple and exchange today for a 2.1 phone.

I'd really like to know if this is a general problem before I update. None of my video comes from iTunes. I encode all of it myself. Don't want to lock myself out of most of my stuff.

Update:

Took it to Apple Store. They said that it was probably a corrupt 2.2 file. They upgraded it and sent me on my way and even loaded some little movie they had on it and it played. Took it home and loaded my movies on it and again they did not work.

Loaded the same movies onto my 2G (2.1) and all played.

I'd say its more to do with your phone then a general problem with 2.2. All my ripped movies are playing perfectly, as is my digital copy of Wall-E from my blu-ray disc, and all purchased content from iTunes.

Are you running the most recent version of iTunes as well? I'd make sure everything is up to date.

I have noticed that some iTunes updates have basically rendered some of my movies useless on the iPhone. I have not quite seen a software update do this and I certainly hope this is a fluke. Otherwise, I'm going to stop wasting my time ripping my own movies to the iPhone.

I guess if I do the 2.2 update I can't really use time machine to somehow go back (undo the 2.2 download) and then re-sync my phone? Anyone know that?

Ripped movies do not come up on iPhone

I was not using the latest iTunes and so before upgrading to 2.2 I upgraded my iTunes. That may be my problem. I will reload iTunes and see if that helps. All the other functions of 2.2 seem to be working fine.
Keep bringing ideas and someone will figure this out
Thanks

I did not either (Use the latest 802 Version). I will trash itunes and download and reinstall. They did replace my iPhone with a 2.1 and I will not upgrade for now.

2.2 movies

Well, am I embarrassed. I just realized that 2.2 has rearranged the video tab page and that you must scroll down to see the movies that are available for sync. Thank you everyone for your input.
:D

I just realized this morning that my movies were missing completely off of the iphone including the ones I bought from Itunes. I hope I can sync to those. i sure would hate to waste them.

That also includes my music that I had on there. I am sure it was the itunes update that messed this up. I am going home after work and try to sync..
