Traded in my 15 pro max on the 17 pro. Gosh I love the size! My only issue is typing on it. Even with the zoom on, the letters are so squished I am constantly fumbling around with texts, and talk to text is HORRID!

I’m SO torn. I tried the 17PM in store and the keyboard is definitely more spread out - wider “keys” with more space between them. I just do not know if I want to be committed forever to a large phone. Is this what it comes to the older you get? Lol

Just wondering if others have made the adjustment over time. It’s been over 3 months, so I feel like I’m definitely giving it a fair shot, mainly because I WANT to have the smaller phone. I just want to throw it about half the time. ;-p

Yeah I made the exact same move from 15PM to 17 pro. I love the size, and also prefer how it looks in this new design compared to the max, but typing is also an issue for me and one that I haven’t been able to get over fully. I’ve got big hands, and it’s just objectively worse to type on. Right now, I think I’ll accept the trade off and stick with it

I went from an 11 Pro Max to a 14 Pro. While the 14 Pro was superb, I missed the larger screen of the Pro Max. I dropped from the Max to the regular size iPhone primarily for the ease of one-handed use. Much easier to snap quick photos with the smaller phone. But that Max size screen is much more important for general use and is a great comfort to my tired old eyes. So when Verizon offered me a (nearly) free upgrade to the 16 Pro Max I jumped on it.

My first “big” phone was the 7 Plus, and I hated the size. Went to the X, then 12 Pro. Then I did the 15 Pro Max to get the better zoom, and found I can deal with the size okay… about 1/2” taller but about the same width (my phones are naked so case size isn’t a factor). But frankly my wife’s 15 Pro is fine; if I were getting a 17 I’d go back to the Pro now that the cameras are on par.

Have a 17 Pro Max. Always wanted the bigger screen. Have always bought the Pro Max. Don't think I can switch to a smaller screen.

My mum has the 17. I have tried it out. While I appreciate the overall smaller device size and it feels better to hold in hand, feels lighter, I do feel that the display size is small. Immediately feel everything is much better on the screen once I pick up my 17 Pro Max.

So for me, I would prefer to go with the Pro Max.

After switching sizes back one forth multiple times over the years, I landed on the Max. There is no right answer. For me the big screen/battery are the higher priorities. And typing is one of the main reasons I prefer the bigger screen.

Definitely pros and cons to each - need to decide which priorities are highest I guess. I love that the smaller pro fits in my purse easily, and in my cup holder or storage spot in my car. Of course it’s easier (well, possible) to use one-handed when needed. I guess I just need to decide if those things outweigh the ability to type more easily and without frustration. The larger screen would obviously be a perk as well.

I had planned to go with the Air prior to release, but it was just lacking in too many areas coming from the pro max.

Went from a 13 Pro Max to a 17 Pro. I really prefer the size of the Pro, since I use my iPad Pro for content/media anyways. My wrist tendinitis has diminished from the switch. My gf has a Pro Max and when I use it it feels like a tablet, I don't like it at all. I don't miss how it feels in the pockets either. Not going back to Max phones, the Pro is the perfect size.

If you want the smaller phone then just accept the typing experience isn't going to be as pleasant as the Pro Max.

The alternative is you have the pro max and typing is great but you have the downsides you don't want, like having to 2 hand it, plus the extra weight that comes with it.

That's your choices.

I'm pretty sure you've done this dance before have you not?

I originally bought the orange 17 pro. Then I bought the silver 17 pro max. I have been using the Pro max exclusively. Have had no desire to switch back to the regular pro. I have the Apple woven case on the Pro max, and I love it because it's thin. I know you use Loopy cases. I tried them, but I use Magsafe alot. I will probably sell my 17 pro.

I went from my 15 Pro Max to the Air then to my 17 Pro and happen to like the smaller screen of the Air and 17 Pro. I'm not having issues typing on either of those devices.

Yep, I went from an 8 Plus to a 12 because of weight/cost, then moved to the 14 Pro because I wanted better cameras again, and then finally to a 16PM because I was tired of needing to top off the battery around 4-6PM in the second year of owning the 14 Pro.

I also type better on the larger phones because I can hold it with both hands and type with both thumbs. But I still wish I could make a smaller/lighter one work.

Actually I have not “done this dance before” because I’ve never used a pro max phone then gone back to a smaller device. I attempted to use pro max phones when they were bigger/heavier, and never kept them. After using the pro max for 2 years, I thought I’d enjoy a smaller device, but after several months, I’m finding there are definite trade-offs and wanted to see if others had similar experiences. But thanks for narrowing down those choices for me.

I upgraded yesterday from an XS Max to a 17 Pro Max. I was planning to get the 17 Pro until I compared the 17 models in the store with my old XS Max. That big bright XS Max screen was a thing of beauty, which is why I held on to it for so long.

I realized I'd not be happy with a smaller unit and got the 17 Pro Max.

That is pretty awesome, must be a nice upgrade coming from Xs Max.
I had the Xs Max 256GB until early 2020 then it got stolen and insurance replaced it with at the time the latest 11 Pro Max 256GB and that was a pretty neat upgrade, but from Xs Max to 17 PM, that is a great jump, enjoy it and welcome!
Which colour did you get?
I went with Silver and very happy.

Thank you! Yeah, my XS Max only had the base 64 GB, and that became one of the reasons I had to move on. I like to pack a lot of music and audio books around with me in the van. Every time I wanted to update to a new version of iOS I would have to delete several gigabytes of stuff to even download the update.

So the new 17 Pro Max base has 256 GB, four times the capacity of what I had. I got a blue one, orange being my least favorite color at this point in cultural history.

Yes! Very happy! Went from 14PM to the regular 17, I absolutely love it. Been 2 months now. Not going back to large phones.

That is excellent, you should be well sorted for however long you want to use it.
Given the increase in RAM pricing in the whole tech industry, iPhone Pro models should be rocking 12GB RAM for quite a few years to come so longevity won’t be an issue either.

Only ever bought large iphones due to the slightly better cameras, put up with a 15 PM for two years and can’t say I enjoyed using it ever, hated the size and weight. I was so relieved to find the 17 Pro and 17 PM had the same cameras this year and I have absolutely fallen in love with the Pro from the second I opened the box. Will never get a Max again no matter how slightly better the camera may be.
