I wonder how exactly he is tracking new users, because iTunes Connect (the site developers use to check their daily stats and manage their apps) has been closed from 12/24 until 12/28

Someone asked him the same question on his blog but he hasn't answered yet. He must have some way to check.

Now if I had made that app, I would be able to afford a new MacBook.
However, I'm stuck with an overheating Black MacBook with water in the Display- it goes up to 91 degrees Celsius, but apparently it's "within spec"
Darn.:(

Aaahh sweet I knew there was a "back door" into Piano for the stats but I couldn't remember the URL.

All that money from an embarrassment of an app that Apple shouldn't be letting on to the store in the first place
But the kiddies lap it up.. So whatever huh.

Sadly that's probably more then most Americans make in a year (Doing real work, not throwing together a pointless app... no offense) I wish I had that nice xmas bonus.

As was pointed out, the https://itts.apple.com site was still working... but for the app developers out there, I've been using the open source AppSales utility! What a great app! It downloads your stats files, shows trends numerically and with bar charts! Very cool!

I thought the same thing, until I was standing in the kitchen of my buddy and he suddenly let off the noise and laughed. It was mildly funny but not worth my dollar. I'll save it for a beer.

My app happened to be the best selling in the Finnish App Store on Christmas (and still). Pajatzo (selling at a whopping 0.79€) sold a massive 77 copies on Christmas eve. Just to give some perspective how tiny the European (and especially Finnish) markets are compared to the US. Here, on a normal week day, you are the best selling with around 30 units.

I agree US always has higher downloads. However, keep in mind that the iPhone has been out 1 year ahead of the world. I suspect that things will even out soon. Also being featured in the Finnish store is like being featured in New Jersey, you cant compare being featured in one european country to being feature in the US store.

You are lucky to be featured, I have never been featured by Apple. Take a look at my stats here http://tingalin.com/Forums/tabid/101/forumid/1/threadid/37/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I was pretty happy with how much I was making until I saw stats for iFart Mobile.

I think the App store is in true danger of just being overloaded with crap. If you type Sudoku or something similar one is inundated with apps. Heck if one types fart or shaver one is overloaded. It is interesting to see that there is iFart Mobile, iFart, iFartz, iFart. iFart Machine, my iFart, and iFart with Timer. I wonder how many copies have been leached due to similarity of names.
It makes me not even want to visit the store. At the least Apple needs querying tools to be able to properly analyze all the apps at the store
