This is great news! Looks like the HDD replacement procedure is 50x easier than last years model! To get the drive out of the old one, you had to remove virtually every other part first, now it appears you have to remove two EASY pieces!

Hello SSD!

Yeah it looks pretty easy for the stock drive, and I thought the same about adding a second but after checking out the pics more I'm not too sure. I'm worried that you might have to screw the other drive into that other piece with the holes, which would mean taking the whole thing apart. Hopefully it's just some simple drop in thing like the first drive.

An SSD and a external Thunderbolt drive might be a good combination, should someone actually get round to producing a reasonably price model (or even a caddy).

I am going to clone the internal to an ssd boot test the ssd then swap the ssd into it also add 8gb ram. When cables come out going to 2 drive looks easy but I think I will need to wait for that step.

It looks like putting a 1tb in of any height would work but if you want 2 1tb hdds you would need to use the slim samsung.

Any concerns that Lion is not going to support TRIM on SSD?

No not really it is a 256gb ssd takes a while to fill it. The teardown looks to me like I can go back into mac mini mods on ebay.. the 2010 model was not very friendly to mod. here is a seller on ebay from my state of New Jersey I don't know him but he has good feedback. he is selling a base 2011 on ebay.

If you know what you are doing it looks like it can be made. I may go back to selling them again.
I don't rush like the seller on ebay I test them a while to be sure they are good.

I may just use the basic model and put in a 1tb hdd and 4gb ram for ht. people that stream netflix and record a little bit of eye tv would find it nice. The base model could be built into that for under 700.

Note to the mods: The seller I listed has no connection to me and I am not trying to sell any gear. I do not have any minis listed on ebay.
