iGetter is a well known download manager for macOS, but we want to introduce it to Macrumors users.

iGetter is a powerful, full featured download manager and accelerator. It can greatly improve the speed of your downloads using segmented (accelerated) downloading. In addition it allows auto resume on broken downloads, queue filtering by various criteria, site explorer, history list, scheduling downloads for low traffic periods (i.e. HudgesNet), auto shut-down/sleep on completion, and much more.

Latest version of iGetter is optimized for macOS Sierra, Safari 10 and multiprocess versions of Firefox 50+.

iGetter works as a fully functional application without expiration even in trial mode. Registration removes the 15 sec. delay at startup.

Get it from http://www.igetter.net

Deciding between iGetter and Folx,
Can it download Torrents and YouTube videos with 1 click like Folx?

Your statement reads like an ad of Folx, but here are a few points (from our view point) that may help you decide:
1. iGetter supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP and FTP over SSL (Implicit or Explicit). It doesn't support Torrents. There are great Torrent clients for Mac which users may use instead of cluttered all-in-one app. As long as we know MAS and Macupdate versions of Folx don't include the Torrent and Youtube features you're asking for, neither you can try these features without registration.
2. Downloading Youtube videos is prohibited by the Youtube policy. However there are browser extensions as FlashGot for Firefox and some sites that extract direct video links which work fine with iGetter. Again some versions of Folx, don't include downloading Youtube videos.
3. Our customers always tells us that iGetter is faster that Folx. Of course, you can compare iGetter and Folx by yourself, but you should note that trial version of Folx allows only two threads per download (you can't try the pro features i.e. more than two threads, speed control, scheduling, etc.). On the other hand, iGetter works as a fully featured version even without registration. There is no expiration period. iGetter registration only removes the 15 sec. delay at startup.
4. If you look at information of completed downloads, Folx shows only file name and size. iGetter shows a lot of useful information i.e. referrer web page, elapsed/finished time, average speed, MD5/SHA1 checksums, etc. Imagine that you have some download on your HDD and you want to check where it came from. Just start iGetter and search its History list, then with 1 click you can jump to the referrer site. Or you may use Finder > Get Info, you will see download URL in the file comments field.
5. Folx opens so much TCP and UDP ports (even if you turn off the Torrent options), that you must be careful when you connect your machine to the Internet. Any open port poses a security risk where some outsider (i.e. a bot) may enter into your machine.

Not advertising for Folx. Thanks for the input but for my needs I just bought Folx Pro from website, needed all in one app Torrent and Youtube. Thanks again

There are Folx Pro users that asked us for a discount if they switch to iGetter. So for those interested we offer a switcher license from another downloader to iGetter with 40% discount [$25 -> $15]. Just contact us with a proof of purchase i.e. Folx Mac App Store receipt: http://igetter.net/contactus.html

Note, that iGetter works as a fully functional application without expiration even in unregistered mode. Registration removes the 15 sec. delay at startup.

Torrent feature is very rarely asked for (a few users for several years), but if more users demand it we will consider adding it. As we said, Apple doesn't allow Torrent clients on Mac App Store (so Folx doesn't support Torrents on MAS).

Internet Download Manager (IDM) for Windows doesn't support Torrents, as well. But you may always use an online service that will download torrents for you and then get them at full speed using iGetter (no need to keep your machine turned on overnight, neither you need to open ports to the Internet and upload stuff).

IDM have best video grabber button in Browser, anyways i bought iGetter aswell. Hope to see for features soon.
