IKEA Chairs and Tables

So I was at the local IKEA the other day and came across what seemed to be some pretty nice furniture. I'm looking to replace my desk/chair, more importantly my chair because it's been giving me back aches lately. One of the chairs that stood out was the KLAPPE (pic attached).

My main concern about IKEA is it's quality. The handles on all of the office swivel chairs seemed to be made of cheap plastic that was "recyclable" Now, I'd like to do my part for the enviornment but not at the expense of my wallet and back (IKEA chairs aren't cheap). I'd like to think that you get what you pay for and this chair costs 300 which is within the range I'm willing to pay for a good chair.

I'm also open to other opinions/recommendations for chairs. As for tables I'm looking at either Jerker or Galant which has gotten pretty good reviews on here. I guess it's just the chairs I'm a bit iffy about.

So for those of you who own/currently sitting on an IKEA chair- How do you like it?

I'm also looking for a new chair, possibly from IKEA, but I'm leaning more towards a non-swivel chair. I have pretty thick carpeting in my room, and a swivel chair really wouldn't work well. I have a desk and a few other knick-knacks (garbage can, lamp, etc.) from IKEA, and I'm very happy with them.

I have had a couple of Ikea chairs they are really great for the first couple of months then the seat becomes lumpy and uncomfortable for longer periods of time...
get an aeron chair...hey they are only a couple hundred more and worth every penny, seriously you will never go back to regular chairs...

My office has had a dozen workstations sitting on EKFEKIVE (sp.) desks. We had an IKEA couch that lasted a bit. The EFKETIVE and IVAR furniture sees heavy use by 6 staff, and hundreds of volunteers weekly, and has been used for at least 5 years. It has held up. I can't vouch for anything else.

The EFKETIVE line is very universal. The file cabinets are useful and the lack of annoying knee banging supports is nice. I also like versatile furniture. This line is very modular. It is also easy to make the EFKETIVE line ADA complainant, and with the electric legs, easy for somebody with a disability to adjust.

I'll admit it: I have an Ikea office chair. (Goes to find pic)

Its actually really nice. I've only been using it for about 4 months now, but its very comfortable and seems to be well-constructed. I wanted to get this chair, but it is rather expensive:

I recommend you buy it. It's not the fanciest chair in the world, but Ikea furniture is actually very good for the money.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with IKEA products. I've suffered through a "lemon" of a bed frame (it broke apart countless number of times) and two duds for armoirs. In the same breath I have my eye on the IKEA Jerker desk and an IKEA dresser.

My roommate has the top chair in the photo with the 2 chairs. It was only $30 I think and so far we've had it about 2 years. It's a great chair, he sits on it practically all day and other than some wear in the leather it's still in excellent shape.

In contrast I have a similar chair from Staples that was about $60 and while the Staples chair seems a little more solid I don't think it's worth the extra money. I'd go Ikea all the way.

Almost my whole apartment is furnished by Ikea, their stuff is great. Occassionally I find issues with say something chipped but Ikea's return policy is amazing, and considering how much I have bought from them the quality control is just as good as any other store.
