A while back they added support on the bulbs that allowed you to connect to a Hue bridge but today they’ve also their own gateway and app with full HomeKit support. Not tested it myself but looking forward to see how it works when I get home tonight.

Would be good to know if I can use these lights with the hue bridge / Apple TV (as a hub) and not have another gateway bridge from IKEA plugged into my AirPort Extreme :|

I'm going to try this tonight. I've got 4 bulbs working with home kit through the Ikea bridge just now. I need to disconnect the other 3 I have from the hue bridge to the Ikea one to update them the try and reconnect the to hue.

It would be great if you could let me know :)

I don't want another hub/bridge in my house!! But the IKEA lights are cheaper than Hue and I would like 4 GU10 bulbs for my kitchen!

Fingers crossed!

:)

Thanks!

Still ****. The update seems to have only effected the iPhone app and the bridge. The bulbs are still showing the same firmware. I can connect the bulbs to my Hue bridge from my kitchen no problem but no HomeKit. I can’t get the to connect to my ikea bridge from the same spot (ikea bridge is next to the hue).

In all honesty I’d avoid the cluster**** of a system like the plague. Hue is far easier to set up and use.

Strongly interested in this, and how well it works. Have a few iDevices switches in my house, so that is my only light solution now. I love them, but have considered looking into other options for additional rooms. Just not a fan of Phillips pricing, and some of the other lighting options out there. The Ikea kits appear to fit my needs.

Trying to clarify Homekit compatibility. Tell me if I have this correct:

1) Ikea bulbs work with Homekit, only through the Ikea hub.
2) You can connect Ikea bulbs to the Hue hub but they won't show up in Homkekit (like other 3rd party bulbs that work with Hue.)

From my testing, yes.

Wish I had seen this thread before I bought some E14 bulbs yesterday. This is a little frustrating as neither the Hue bulb lineup nor the Tradfri lineup have a complete line of sockets and spectrum options. The only candelabra Hue bulb is a full color spectrum and is $30 a pop.

I was expecting IKEA to be a little more competitive on price when it comes to the basic bulbs as well. A standard Tradfri bulb is 12-18 dollars but the Hue is about the same price without the need to get a separate hub for HomeKit compatibility.
