Cliffs of Dover is a new Sim/Game made by Oleg Maddox and 1C, creators of the best selling air combat game ever, IL-2 Sturmovik

Over 7 years in the making and released 2 weeks ago (March 30th), it has arguably set new standards that all games will be compared to, not just flight sims.

Since it is Windows only, its Bootcamp time. It will run on XP, but Win7 is better, and a Video card with 2GB RAM(!!!) is ideal.

Has anyone attempted a WINE test?

I know Wine usually has problems with newer games but I was curious to see if it had been tried? I suppose I could check AppDB myself, but if anyone knew the answer of the top of their head, I thought I'd ask. :p

So is anyone still running this on a mac in bootcamp? Thinking of picking this up. Its only $15 now on amazon.

You can get it for less, like $3.

Even if you get the disk, you need to D/L the game.
In fact, forget about installing from disk, just use included code (IIRC).

What you MUST do is make sure the 3ed party upgrades are also installed.

Update on whats happened in last 2~3 years.

CloD was really buggy. A few missions works fine, many other parts are in bad shape.
1C Maddox basically went bankrupt becuase it simply was not ready, unfortunately.

Despite that, there is a strong community so it will live.

Well I finally broke down and installed bootcamp and windows 7 this weekend. It was kind of like pulling teeth. I've installed a lot of mac operating systems in the past, from System 7 thru OSX Beta to current day Mavericks. Never has it been a multi day install! Good grief back in the day swapping out 3.5 disks all day long and fighting with extensions I could get something going in a few hours. Anyway I have window working. COD downloaded from Steam and upgraded the Team Fusion patches from 3.0, 3.1 and finally 4.0 (you have to do it in this order). I only have a few minutes running it. I have graphics set to med with model detail, damage detail set to high, FSAA x2 and shadows on. Runs silky smooth. Now to get my stick set up and find some free head tracking.
