Connect your iSight and quit out of iChat if it opens.
Then open up iMovie HD, click on Create a New Project and change the source drop down from DV (where it's probably set) to iSight. Then you should find yourself looking at an editing area with your iSight picture (you might have to move the switch at the bottom of the preview window from edit to 'camera') and a record button.
