Hey,

I just recently purchased a MacBook last Thursday. As we know, iLife '08 was released earlier that week and I guess they didn't have time to have iLife '08 included in the Operating System.

So what they did was give me an iLife '08 DVD that was labeled "iLife '08 CPU Drop In DVD"

What I'm doing now is reinstalling the Operating Sytem on my MacBook and I'm at the point where I can choose what I want it to install. If I don't have it install the '06 stuff, Can I still install all the '08 stuff from the CD?

Thanks in advance!)

Yes - you don't need to have the previous version on your system - you can use the iLife '08 DVD after you reinstall your OS.

You are better keeping iLife 06 on the machine - the applications get overwritten anyway.

Another benefit to keeping it on your machine is you get to keep iMovie 06 (the only file ilife 08 doesn't overwrite) - a lot of people don't like the new iMovie and prefer the old one, so handy to have access to both.

You can download iMove HD 6 (or the iMove that was included with iLife 06) for free at the following link:

Also if you install iLife '08 it keeps iMove in a folder in your Apps folder called "iMovie (previous version)"
