Just looking at Apple's previous trends, they seem to be simplifying the lineup. If you take a look Apple's hardware lineup, with the recent iBook and iMac updates they have simplified the lineup by bringing down both models from having 3 to only 2 different configurations. I see the same thing happening with iLife and iWork. Sales of iWork have been VERY poor. Sure some people like them, but regardless it is doing VERY poorly. Also having to buy both iLife and iWork in the New Year sucks, as I wont be buying two seperate boxes at that price to stay up to date. However if Apple merges them both into one package, they will probably make more money as it will be seen as an extraordinary value as more people will buy it, and I for one will buy it. They can bump up the price right now for iLife possibly to $99 from $79 or more if it includes the iWork apps and I will gladly pay for it if I get those apps in one package at that price. However if things stay the same with iWork and ILife being the seperate packages they are now, I will be staying with my '05s. Apple understands that I'm sure and I am 100% convinced that come the New Year, there will only be one iLife package that incorporates iWork into it.
