System Info
3 GHz Mac Pro w/ 6Gb ram running OS 10.4.8 & Illustrator CS2 (12.0.1)

Problem
With both existing & new files, when I attempt to use the Pathfinder/Shape Modes - (add to shape) command the programs just quits. All other shape modes work fine just add to shape is causing a problem.

What I have tried
Trashing Illustrator pref files ~/library/preferences/Illustrator CS2
Re-Installing CS2 Suite
Fresh OS & Illustrator install

Nothing is working & I am sad - please help.

Thanks - I will check into the Adobe forums and see if I can come up with something.

Just wait until you encounter the "none of my keyboard shortcuts work!" problem. ;)

Remember to close the Appearance pallet each time you close Illustrator, or else the crashing problem will come back.

The page with Adobe's workaround is gone. Can someone explain to me how to do it?

This works for me -

1 Open Illustrator
2 Make sure the "appearance" panel is closed
3 Close Illustrator
4 Re-Open Illustrator
5 Open "appearance" panel if needed
6 Work
7 Close "appearance" panel if opened
8 Close Illustrator
9 Next use of Illustrator start at step 4

If Illustrator is closed with the "appearance" panel opened then start over at step 1

Silly work around (I don't know why it works but it does) Adobe has given - I don't know where the page went.
