illustrator help!! :)

hi guys, i have an adobe illustrator CS and a tablet, and i'm new to it, and need to design a logo.

the problem is, everytime i try to draw, it "auto corrects" and "auto smoothens" my lines, how do i get rid of that function? and how do i use the eraser function on my wacom? it has no problem with the included software "corel painter essential", any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double-click the tool's icon (I assume it's the brush or pencil?) and there will be settings you can change. The fidelity and smoothness sliders will be the ones that address the effect I think you're describing.

You may also want to turn off "fill new brushstrokes" and "keep selected" while you are in there, they get obnoxious fast.

Wacom erasers aren't really supported in Illustrator. The Wacom Software Atlas is a nice summary of what features you can use in different applications. (Some Illustrator brush types can make use of pen angle etc. and you can configure them, but in general you only can count on pressure)

For vector artwork, you would probably do best to stick with Illustrator for now, because it's an industry standard. This will be important if you ever want to hand your stuff over to an outside company, such as a printer.

Some of the programs that make up the Expression suite were around for a long time before Microsoft bought them, but they have not really seen mainstream use. This could cause problems if you will ever need anyone else to work with your drawings.
