In the snow with Rosebud
Hello,

I have the misfortune to be working, not only on a PC, but with Illustrator 10 as well. I have to switch to this machine temporarily, and I am having an issue that I can't figure out (I actually did search and didn't come up with much).

Most or all placed or embedded rasterized images appear washed out as if their transparency has been dropped to 75%, but they are opaque. When saving for web or exporting the design, the colors in the placed images are correct.

I would like to see a full color image while working in Illustrator so that I can more easily match colors and whatnot. If any of you have run into this issue and know how to fix it, please let me know. Probably something simple that I am not seeing, but this doesn't occur when I am using on CS2 or CS3. Thank you!

Think it is software, not hardware

Haha I sorely need to do that on this machine, as it has been out of use for awhile, but I do not believe that this is a hardware issue. I think it is a software issue.

Please note that this only occurs with placed or embedded rasterized images. All vector art looks fine. And again, when I save for web or export the design (as a jpeg let's say) the colors look the way that they are supposed to. So this issue is in Illustrator 10 only (that I have noticed so far).

Thanks for the suggestion--I highly agree with you, I just don't think that is going to solve this particular issue.

Are you putting RGB jpegs in a CMYK document or something similar?

No that doesn't seem to be the issue. I double checked after you posted. I am pretty careful about that kind of thing (not going to say it never happens though). Do you think it could be a color profile thing? My color profiles seem in order, but I'm just tossing that out there.

Thanks though. I know most of you are probably straining to remember the AI 10 days :)
