illustrator printing problem!!

Hi! all expert,
Recently i have a problem printing files from illustrator, i got some AI artwork from my clients, everytime i straight output the file, the printout all compressed horizontally. i've try save to another name, but no luck.
i then copied the whole thing to a new file and they printed fine.
i've checked the file setup, everything looks ok to me.
Anyone have any idea what went wrong? i really need to know.

most of printing issues are caused by printing setup.
check the print set up is all correct for the art work.
make sure to check correct one between 'portrait' and 'landscape'

You don't mention what version of Illustrator, what Mac OS or what printer.
In case you've upgraded to 10.5.5 there is an acknowledged bug while printing from Illustrator, but you will have to search the Apple support page as I don't have the link anymore.

They do acknowledge working on this and in the meantime suggested choosing media Size > Defined by Driver in the print dialog.
