Illy to ID pixelation issue

Hello everybody, I've created a logo in Illustrator. It looks crisp in Illustrator. Nice sharp edges, and clean curves. When I "place" it in InDesign, the lettering gets all pixelated. I've tried saving in different formats and it does the same thing regardless of file format.

I'm wondering if anybody can help me get my logo (as it looks in Illustrator) into InDesign.

It could just be that your InDesign is set to display graphics at a poor quality on screen to save on memory and increase InDesign's processing speed. To change this, go into your Preferences, under Display Performance, and change Default View to High Quality. You can also changes this preference image by image by right-clicking the image > Display Performance > High Quality Display.

It's most likely just your screen settings (it renders at a lower resolution so InDesign won't get bogged down). When you print, it should look as perfect as it did in Illustrator. If you really can't stand it looking like that while you work, turn on Overprint Preview (shift+option+command+Y). It will look much nicer, but your computer will slow down.

Thanks Ansari and Ignatius. I looked at display prefs and played around with different settings. No change. The Illustrator logo is crisp and clean in Illustrator and once it hits ID, it gets pixelated.

Overprint preview doesn't affect the logo.

I printed out the InDesign file that I'm trying to place this image in and everything looks real nice...except for the logo! Looks nasty.
Gradients are smooth, InDesign text is crisp. Even the raster graphic I placed in the InDesign file looks OK. But the logo is all jacked up.

I'm beginning to think that something happened to my Illustrator logo file... I'll do another logo design using similar techniques as the problem file and see if same thing happens when I place it in ID.

Any other ideas out there?

OK... saving the Illustrator File as a PNG was a big part of the problem.
Once I saved the Illustrator file as an EPS ---8bit color tiff, transparent, compatible gradient and gradient mesh printing options checked--- and then placed the file in InDesign, everything looks good. Great in fact.

You can place native format (.ai) Illustrator files in ID and it works brilliantly.
