Notification Alerts pop up and give you 2 choices:
Close
Snooze

What, pray tell, is the point of the 'Close' button if the same alert just comes back 5 minutes later? I've dismissed the same event about 20 times today and it just keeps coming back.

And yes, I've checked the settings, there doesn't seem to be a "bug me until the end of time" checkbox or anything like that. It's a calendar event, but I don't see any settings in Calendar either.

Am I missing something or do I just need to turn this damn notification thing off?

Is this occurring with all events or just one? If it's just one, try deleting it and adding it back again to see if that corrects your problem. If it's occurring with every event you have then I suggest taking a closer look at event settings in Calendar.

I have numerous event alarms going off daily between Reminders & Calendar but after I click "close", they don't come back. It sounds to me like a repeat feature was switched on somewhere.

I've turned the NC off on both my Macs. It just annoyed me for too many reasons. Plus I don't use face time, nor messages, I check my mail when I want to check it, same goes for updates.

For anyone who would like to turn it off:

It's been 2 weeks since I did and no side effects for me and I have Spotlight right where it's supposed to be:)

It has been just one, so I'll just try erasing and re-adding it since I can't find anything specific wrong with its settings.

Thanks.

Another issue (or feature?) is that if I click a notification in the list, it takes me to the App that posted it, but the notification is not removed from the list.

omg i'm having the exact same issue and it's driving me crazy. it's happening on multiple macs (i have a mini and a mbp). what the hell notification center?

Apparently, third party apps will only clear notifications if they have a badge that is cleared when you visit the app.
