I'm at a loss on what to do

In July I downloaded the public beta for El Capitan. Everything seemed to go well and I had no problems until after I downloaded public beta 4. After that I was seeing problems like safari closing randomly. Apps closing or opening without being prompted. Today I restored my macbook air to factory and restored with time machine so far everything seems to be behaving normally. ButI still can't download iTunes 12.2.2.I got the prompt for the update last week and as you can see in the image I've provided it shows it was installed when in fact it was not as you can see 2 other versions saying it was installed yet it keeps showing up in the App store to update which I am doing as I type this. It will reach a certain point and the App store will suddenly close. Well today I was prompted by the App store that OS X public beta 5 was available for download and again it would start to update when then App store will suddenly close.When updating any App I usually start the update and walk away not wanting to use up bandwidth so I can have a faster download. I did a diagnostic on my route and it seems to reworking fine. Anyone else having this problem. I hate not knowing what's causing this and my OCD is rearing it's ugly head. Help before I lose my mine.

I know the risk of testing beta. I've tested beta for a long time. I'm usually able to figure out why something is not working, but since I've been on multiple sites looking for answers it doesn't seem anyone else is having this problem. Your reply was insulting and not helpful. I thought helping was what this type of forum was all about not getting snarky replies.

Are you able to update to the OS X Public Beta 5? Try updating that alone. I've had some problems with updates on the developer betas. A shutdown and restart solved the last one.

You can install the latest iTunes directly from the Apple website. That should be a straightforward workaround to the update bug. Hopefully future betas will fix these issues.

Yes I did shut down and restart. No luck but I will try going to the apple website to update ITunes. Thank you so much.

I also have seen a couple of apps that continue to offer updates, when in fact the app is already updated.
I would choose to ignore the iTunes update for now, start only the Beta 5 install. It's a large download.
(You can choose to update only the Beta, and don't click "Update" for the bogus iTunes update notice.
Once the beta is updated, then you may find that the iTunes does not bother you anymore - at least until the next update comes around.

I had the continual updating the same updates in Yosemite... It turned out to be a permissions error somewhere deep in /private/var/...

I don't know if you have run OS X Server with cache server enabled. I have that. When I installed iTunes I encountered the same problem as you did. I clear the cache and re-downloaded the iTunes from app store server. Everything went fine there after.

The cache server will cache all your downloads form OS X and iOS app store. So you devices in the same local network won't need to download from the remote server any longer. That will speed up your updates processes and also save more power on your devices. However, if the first time you download from app server is not integrity for some reason. All you local devices will not get the right updates. The cache server doesn't have the ability to notice on this. What you can do it to clear the cache manually in you Server.app and do update again in any of your devices.

There is also another reason. That iTunes sometimes doesn't quit properly. So the update can't overwrite it. You need to reboot you Mac and do the update again.

Why I know this? I did encounter this too.

Any update on this? Have you tried updating through the terminal?
