Hey guys. Im back after my month trip to Europe. It was amazing, but i had a technology problem lol.. I have a panasonic fx 01 digital camera which uses an sd card. I had two hundred pictures on my 2 gb sd card and all of a sudden i noticed i lost 100 pictures.. they were all deleted and went to this one picture i had in belgium.. i thought maybe i accidently deleted them so i kept using the card.. and then after i had around 200 pictures again.. nother 100 pictures were deleted and it went back to the same picture in belgium.. After that i just used a different sd card in fear of it happening again..

Do you think there will be any way to recover my pictures>? It was a once in a lifetime trip and i wish i can get those pictures back..

Unfortunately I would assume that the first 100 pictures you lost are gone for good. By taking another 100 pics you wrote over that portion of the card.

As for the newly lost 100, I don't have any recovery suggestions (maybe others will) but definitely don't use that card any more. Using it again will guarantee the loss of those pics.

First thing you could try would be putting the card in another reader (e.g., other camera, computer with sd slot, etc.) to see if you can't find those pics. With any luck your camera was failing to "see" the new 100, but they're still available to another reader.

Good luck, and my condolences. :(

I have a disk repair program, can't remember the name - it's at work but I'll let you know tomorrow. With that program I was able to pull old photos off a card that had been written over - not all the photos but probably 70%.

oh my gosh! I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU! I downloaded the trial of the software, and it found EVERY picture that got deleted..
Is there anything similar to this that is free? If not, i am going to buy it..

Glad one of those three looks like it'll work for you... but don't get too happy until the pictures are actually back. Just because it sees them doesn't 100% guarantee they're actually recoverable until they're on your disk.

And no, there aren't any free ones to my knowledge--be glad they work at all.

If the prices are different, you might try the demo of whichever is cheapest and see if it can get your photos back.

yeah i actually realized not All have been recovered, but im working on it... Thanks for your help.. If anyone knows of any for windows i can use that too, or a demo would be fine too..

Which program worked? Picture Rescue? Or the other suggestions.
I'm just trying to find out who the "I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU"s are for. I'd like to think they were for me :D
Sorry, don't know of any other progs.

To be honest, I think you're being a little cheap. In your initial post, you say it was a trip of a lifetime and you really want the pictures back and now $60 is too much when the app's demo has shown that it can at least 'see' the pictures you're looking for.

$60 for memories you can't recreate? Or have to pay hundreds of dollars to revisit those places? A developer has put in some hard graft to make the app after all.

Well the i love yous were for everyone.. i downloaded several demos and they all found the same pictures more or less.. Then i just downloaded a freeware for windows and i was able to save the files.. Im going to continue to look for more apps and hopefully recover ALL my pictures.. If a program gets them all, i will buy it in a heart beat.. I am missing all my pictures from the eifel tower, but i am just glad i got 200 back.

Cheap? I wouldn't jump to that conclusion...

If this truly is a "once in a lifetime" trip, chances are he doesn't have that much money to begin with. Of course, he does have a 2 GB SD card and a nice digital camera, so who knows?

I'd pay $60 for hundreds of photos from a Europe trip (I mean, with film cameras, you'd have to pay that much to get them developed anyway, right?), but I would certainly prefer to get them for free.

Mind you, I would not pirate software to get them for free.

Either way, congrats on getting [most of] your pictures back, jer446!

that is the trip i took.. as you can see, it is a once in a lifetime trip because i was with a group of 40 teens.. And it will be a long time before i go back to europe...

but anyways.. i got back like 100 pictures.. the second set of pictures that were deleted.. i think that the first set is gone for good because they were probably over written.. if anyone knows of any other professional software, i will give it a try.. thanks for your help..

You might also want to see if others on the trip have similar pictures, so you can at least have some photos of places you're missing.

I'm assuming that in between taking pictures you didn't perchance put the SD card into a reader or mount your camera to a computer. If you did, and didn't eject it properly, the card may be confused as to where it can or can't write. I had that problem with a flash card a few months back.

In any case, once you've pulled off all the pictures you can, I'd suggest using the camera to format the SD card to get it back to a fresh state.

yeah i will be getting all the pictures that i deleted from friends.. Thanks for everything guys..

It was Data Rescue II that I've used in the past to pull photos off an overwritten card. On occasion it would even pull photos off that had been deleted months ago on a card rewritten over several times.
