I have turned off notifications all together for my email yet I'm still receiving them on my lock screen AND while in other applications?

Bug?

So you went into the settings for those apps under notifications and turned view in lockscreen off? Its a setting all the way at the bottom of notification settings for each app.

I had it set to "Not In Notification Center" however I still had it set to give me Badge App Icon and Show in Preview and View in Lock Screen.

I thought that if they were in the "Not In Notification Center" it wouldn't show anything however after looking at the settings that's not true. It appears that you have to go thru and tell EACH application what you want and even though it's kind of confusing since it says not in the notification center, it still can show up with these other alerts.

I was just a little confused at to what each section of the notifications did.

right, the notifications setting deals with all types of notifications, not just the center. glad you got it fixed. later.

Notification center is the pulldown from the status bar.

Exactly they broke it down so you could have greater options for the notifications. If you don't want it on the lock screen just disable that setting and you will still get the drop down or pop-up depending on how you want it.
