Of course the lid has to be thicker than the old models because XDR has more layers.

The real reason I’m glad the lid is thicker is because for 10 years I had reoccurring Salvador Dali nightmares that the MacBook Pro lid was bending and flopping around like a piece of paper or soft metal. Seriously, I had this nightmare about 5 times.

Now I can sleep safely and dream about dongles only.

Is the display assembly thicker? or does it just look it because it doesn't taper towards the edges any more (a bit like the main section as well).

Looks like it is a tiny bit thicker even if we consider the edges are no longer tapered.

I remember putting my hand behind the XDR Mac Pro display and feeling heat coming out of the monitor. I wonder if the new MBP’s lid becomes warm? It doesn’t matter anyway.
