I just bought an iPad 9.7 a couple days ago and have been learning more about it. I just learned how to use Split View and Slide Over and I have to say I'm impressed. I had no idea these things were possible on an iPad. I can definitely see myself getting used to these two features. As far as I know these two features are new to iOS - The last iPad I used was the iPad mini 4 a few years ago.

I think maybe I should revisit my assumptions as to what is and isn't possible on Apple tablets.

I neat trick I learned from this forum is for when you have two apps running in split view mode. Then if you drag a third app to the line that separates them that third app will enter split view.

Oh wow, I had no idea.. thanks for that! I guess these tablets are gaining more desktop behavior all the time.

I assume you mean it enters “slide over view”??? Also is anyone here getting all 3 windows active simultaneously? (Both split view and the slide over window) Because on my 9.7 iPad Pro it doesn’t do that, but I thought that was being enabled by iOS 12...

Argh! You are correct. My wording was incorrect. You have to make sure you're trying it with three apps that support multitasking. It definitely works on my 9.7 IPP.

But when the slideover app is out, then both of the split screen apps are greyed out right? And if you tap one then the slideover app goes away? That’s not how it works on the larger iPP, and iOS12 was supposed to bring the same functionality to 2GB iPads, but it never seemed to happen...

A lot of what you see on the iPad you can do on a Mac. Just think about all that you can do and then try to duplicate it on an iPad. It pretty cool that you can do both. The Split view was like, OMG, way back on the Mac. I used to hate when I was on my work computer which was a PC and I couldn't have two windows open and working in them side by side and scrolling or dragging across each window. That is a win that we now can do it inside an iPad.

Yes it does gray out like you described. Youtube videos keep playing though.
