I just got a new Acer laptop with Windows 7 and am loving it.
I have been an Avid Mac user for 5 years, and was prevoiusly
a Mac fanboy and Mac Lover, but i am just flabbergasted at
all the software available for Windows!
And most of it is free software.

I do have VM ware Fusion with windows 7 on it but, there are quite a
few driver issues when running Windows on a Mac. And also performance issues.

My Windows 7 on my Mac never worked that great.
There were always driver issues with some missing drivers
for either the network card, the sound card, the graphics card, etc......

There is just so much more software out there for Windows......

I'm surprised you had trouble with drivers... I never had a problem yet using boot camp windows and stock drivers, except CUDA, which was easily fixed by updating the new drivers by nvidia.

I'm happy that things are working out for you though. And yeah, there are more software for Windows, but there are also some software that I use that aren't for Windows (ie. Aperture)

i'm quite surprised by this actually.

For me, there is more free software that actually works and works well for mac.

Though often a time there is paid software I can't get, when I use windows I lack good software that integrate into my daily life I would otherwise have for free on mac.

I have the new Imac and loaded the Windows 7 via BootCamp. I had to track down a driver for the sound but other than that this Windows is the best yet. I am using the 64bit version. I have seen many improvements with user friendliness and speed. By far the best Windows out there. This Windows makes Vista look like an accident created by a 12 year old. (My Opinion Obviously)

Some examples, Windows 7 is set up similar to spaces on a mac. It allows you to hover over a task bar window to see all the different windows open. It also has an improved search tool.

Anyways, thought I would let you guys know if your considering running Windows on your Mac. I give it 5 thumbs up! :D

So would you recommend Boot Camp over VMware or Parallels
when running Windows 7 ?

I definitely recommend Boot Camp over the other options. I tried the other but did not like it operating in the background of my Mac OS X. Of course, just my opinion. :apple:

If you can still find it, the RC is free - last until March, I believe. If not, go to http://www.win741.com - you can get it there (legally) for $29. I think all you need is a student email addy.

Depending on the mac that you have, and how well Apple supports it, you might have better luck if you install it in VMware or Parallels, as they come with drivers for Windows that actually work. I'm not saying that natively in Bootcamp won't work, but you might actually find Windows nicer to use in VMWare where it has drivers ;)
